Why leave them crappy looking? Painting isn't rocket science...Just work...
I painted the '56 chevy on page 1 post 10 of this thread in my garage.
This car doesn't quite need it yet, but it will happen eventually.
Besides, I'm so far down the slippery slope what's a few more degrees of tilt!

In my case becuase it better matches the owner that way. Ha.

Kidding aside, painting is just a function of jumping in and doing it. Thanks for the push.

Factory Hard Top Done!

Put it all back together after drying the paint and installed the Factory Hard Top tonight.
A few minor adjustments made and it fits great, even at the top of the windows.

On to the next project.....

Decided today was the day to re-install the blower from the AC in the smugglers box and wire a relay and switch to it. Fresh air system sucks and I don't want to convert the ductwork back to non A/C style as A/C may go back on the car some day.
One speed, full blast... Works great. I used the hole in the dash where the PO had put a switch (the one that burned up) for the aftermarket A/C. Only outside air, no recirc.(Blocked the duct)
Switch install is simple yet stealthy in my opinion. I'm going to use the same style switch for my Mocal fender cooler fan, unless I go purely t-stat controlled.
Here's a picture of the installation. It's the button behind the wiper stalk on the dash. All it switches is the relay.

Looks like it's time to start all of the winter projects I have lined up.
Took the car for a nice drive and told my wife I was going to change the oil
when I got back.
2 hours later and look what happened!

Changing the rear shocks will be a breeze now!

So, I pulled the engine due to new oil leaks and a noise that was coming from the valve train.
Here's what I found. YIKES, just in the nick of time I'd say..

Sobamaflyer, I know you'll appreciate this...

Good thing I have all new shafts, bolts, nuts rsr seals and a set of rebuilt Rockers waiting. (I'm psychic LOL)
Here's what I found:

The nut was sitting beside the spark plug hole for #3 cylinder, you can see the bolt on the far left. Lots of oil dripping out in that location onto my SSI's.

Exhaust center shifting and leaking:

Overall Cylinders 4-6:

Cylinders 4-6, no shaft movement but a few leaky rocker shafts too:

So I measured the length of the Rocker shaft bolts and they are all 1/2 a millimeter longer then the new ones. I had read in the engine rebuilding section this was the case and I can confirm. These suckers stretch.
I am torqueing the new ones as hard as I can go by hand. Too many different opinions on the value, most say exceed specs, I am making them TIGHT! They won't back out again, and with the rsr seals shouldn't leak either. Valve adjustments to go and I am done....

Checked in at 21 ft/lbs for torque after "hand tightening"

Well, that was 9 & 1/2 hours of my life I won't get back... I don't regret a minute of it. That rocker was a grenade with the pin pulled. Just the valve covers to go back on the engine.

Just changed out what I thought were Boge shocks on the back, Turns out there are no markings on them. Made in USA P306 and 735513 is all the info on them.
Oh well, GONE...New Boge/Sachs Super Touring are in.

Wideband O2 Sensor installed

While the engine is out I dropped one SSI HE and had a O2 sensor bung tig welded to it.
Innovate wideband O2 sensor for tuning the mixture. I'll need it for the Bitz kit install in the future.
Just need to wire it up when the engine goes back in. (soon)

The easiest access to the engine electrical panel is while the engine is out.
I installed the Innovate LC-1 controller, wiring, lcd, test button and a 6 gang ATC fuse panel. Still need to run the gauge wires and decide how I'm going to mount the gauge. But it's getting closer to being done.
Crappy cell picture, but you'll get the idea. (coiled brown wire is for the gauge)

Found a convenient place to mount the Gauge for my LC-1.
Not having a console has it's advantages. Line of sight but not too conspicuous.
(Wired it all in this morning)

Decided to go ahead with installing the Bitz kit on my car.

All wiring is completed in the car, ECU is mounted and the intake system is prepared.

Just waiting for 2 items to show up in the mail before mounting the intake to my engine.

A Tach adapter for my coil and Bosch CDI that wasn't included in the used kit I bought, and a new set of intake manifold gaskets.

The Tach adapter is being sent to me by a very generous member here. Thanks.

I need to go pick up some 1/4" fuel line (ethanol rated) and a couple of small items and then I can mount it, put my engine back in and start tuning.

Thanks,
It's a work in progress...

I'm keeping my entire "old" CIS system complete and on the shelf, so I'm building this set up out of a spare CIS I bought for parts last year.

Welded up a tube for the AAR out of some 1/2" conduit I had lying around.
The AAR tube wasn't with the one I bought.

Still need to mount a fitting in the air intake aluminum tube to accept the oil tank vent tube. Big hole & a big grommet!

Here are some more pics from different angles:
