Whoops - Wayne spins the 959 at Willow...
Jack Olsen was riding with me - we're not quite sure what happened, but one thing is certain - this car is way too fast for this particular track. I'm having to hold it back almost everywhere, and the gear ratios are a bit too high. Still, it's running very fast.
The spin happened at the end of the 2nd straightaway - the car at full boost runs almost too fast into the chicane. I think that the car stalled out when I came off of the throttle, and then that affected the power assist steering, which caused problems because the steering input changed. It's been stalling intermitantly since I got what I think was a tank of bad gas the other day. Could the idle control valve too. Luckily, it uses the same one as the 1984-89 Carreras, so perhaps I will just replace that when I get back on Wednesday. No damage to the car, and we took it right back out again. I have to make sure the car is still running for the Thursday fun run! Pics coming soon! -Wayne PS It's nice to have a day off from work!

Good to hear you are handling the legacy the way Ferdinand applauded. Spirited driving. Relieved you, Jack and the car are still all in one piece.

Woah, I too had a small heart attack when reading the title! Glad everyone/thing is ok. Imagine if we lost Wayne, Jack AND a 959 all at once! The Porsche world as we know it would come to a halt!

Wayne, besides owning a 959, not many people can say they spun out in a 959. I'm glad everyone and the 959 is okay.
Keep up the good work.

No biggie. Spins just make sure you shake loose all the spare change lodged under your seats.

Tire pressures were slightly off, we corrected those - the monitoring system might be miscalibrated...

I'm guessing you were at Streets?
I'm impressed that you're willing to use the car as it was intended rather than keep it as a garage queen. |

Oddly enough, I have good Verizon wireless connectivity here at the track. I can share:

That seems to be Jack's car on the right and the singer Rob Dickinson (SP?) with the stripe. Last edited by milt; 11-20-2007 at 01:19 PM.. Reason: remembered Rob's name |
