Frank,

There have been several good post on this subject.

Suggest you do a search-rear view mirror.

Good luck,

Gerry

Heat the puck from the other side of the glass. I used a hot air gun for mine. The mirror will pop off.

Frank,

I just installed a new windshield on my car and had to do this too. My mirror was stuck to the old windshield w/double sided tape/pad stuff, not the typical glue an installer would use. I was able to get it off using a long razor blade knife tool w/out issue. I decided to order the sticky tape for the new install too as I didn't want to mount it too permanently and cause issues for the next 'new' windshield. . . If your mirror is installed w/glue, I can't help! Sorry!

here's the PN & link:

Good luck,

To remove most adhesives, heat and patience are your primary tools. using a small plastic wedge (like a tile spacing wedge) can help to keep a tension force on the adhesive while you heat it to weaken the bond strength.
To locate the new mirror puck, measure and mark on the outside of the windshield with a sharpie or other removable marking.

Frank,

Don't make the same mistake I made; I installed the button upside down and now will have to remove it carefully! So make sure you mark the top because it has a slight wedge shape to lock the mirror into.
