Ruby Stone, When was this color introduced & how rare?

Hello,

So as the title says, when was Ruby Stone introduced? How do you feel about the color?

I've come to think that porsche is such a quirky car that it looks good in every colour. Colours that never would work on another car make sense on a porsche. Have you seen a colour that doesn't work?

I like it. But I like the blue on the 993 in the background better.

Looks kind of like Rasberry from the early '70's. And I agree, I've yet to see a color that didn't look good on a 911

I'm not a big fan of red or pink but I do like the 993 in this photo. Belongs to a guy in our car club and has 18k miles on it.....

Ruby Stone? Sounds like it was named after a hooker.

Very cool color, its a little toned down from the bright Strawberry that some RS's came in.

Is it your car?

There is one of these hanging out in a warehouse in SLC. I have seen it a few times. The guy who owns it lets his son do their busine out of the warehouse. The pink 964 is there along with a few other rare cars that just sit unassumingly in the corner with boxes staked around them.

I also agree that the curves and hips of a 911 can pull off any color. I have yet to see one that I would turn away from my own garage.

It's a beautiful colour, but I'm sorry I can't answer your questions about it.

What other car, besides Porsche, offers "paint to sample" as an option?

The colour was introduced for the 964 RS model year in 1991. It was referred to as one of the 'Lipstick' colours as was Mint green of the time, non metallic colour. The Rubystone Red (Monkeybum Pink) car in the first post was owned by Keith in the UK. The 993 in the background is a 993 GT in Audi Blue (Evo spec). The Rubystone cc
Odour was the press colour for the RS launch in the UK.

Works perfectly on the 964 RS. One of my absolute favorites.
