Adjusting Shift Coupler with Seine System

For those of you with the Seine System gate shifter, how do you go about adjusting the shift coupling. I tried to tension up the spring so the spring would clear the pin when I put the shifter in the 1/2 plane, but it wouldn't clear. I ended up sticking a shim between the tension spring lock nut and the plate to keep in the 1/2 plane and then adjusted the coupler.

How do you do it?

I really do not fully understand what you are trying to do with the Shifter? I set mine with Lever in Neutral and would check it by shifting from 1st to second then 3rd and check 5th & Reverse. You may want to have a helping hand to hold the lever all of the way over??

Not sure I completely understand the question as it's difficult to really tell where you're having the problem, I guess it's the picture is worth 1000 words thing, but for me it helped to think about the point of the spring. It's basically there simply to keep pressure on the pin once it triest to get to the 1ist and 2nd plane and to help eject the shift lever out of the 1st/2nd plane and into the 3rd/4th plane as the default. So the only time there would be pressure on the shift lever is when you try and engage 1st/2nd.

I've had no end of problems trying to get my Seine to work properly. When initially installed I could not get it into the 1-2 plane. The spring would bottom before I could get far enough over. I ended up having to cut 4 coils off the spring to make it all work. Then the spring tension was way too stiff. Sent several emails to Seine and got a somewhat strange response that he thought I was someone else and then didn't respond anymore. I think I'll go back to my Wevo.

you need to move the shift plate (the flat one held on by 2 bolts on top) a little to the side so it can clear the tabs on both sides. make sure you're using the correct spring that comes with the kit; the shorter one is for use with the shift kit (I think it is marked with a yellow dab of paint).

I tried all of that. And used the spring for the short shifter too. still had to cut the spring to make it work.

Maybe my description was bad. I'm adjusting the shift coupler. To do that you rotate the coupler to the right and keep the shifter in the extreme left position. But the gate shifter prevents you from doing that.

if no second person available...a good bungee cord to the drivers side or steering wheel...mt custom Seine I was able to raise the spring (releasing tension) and then push it over...but a couple failed settings made me commission my kids for some "holding" - that worked...

I also have fixed back seat so getting in the back is a one way trip..then dial 911 to get out

I have a Seine kit and a Porsche short shift kit. After much trial and error with different shift coupler hints form this forum, I found the easiest method was very simple! Just allow the shifter to assume the spring loaded "center 3/4 position" with the shift stick at 90deg verticle, then put the coupler/shaft in the CENTER position and lock it down, May take a little "tweaking" left or right of the coupler to optimize, but it worked better than any other method.

I just adjust it like normal, I find first if it's known and push it all the way up and over then lock the coupler down.

Installing the Gate Shift kit assumes the shift circuit is already operating normally (it's not a remedy for worn pieces). However, after installation and if adjusting the shift coupler at a later date, some methods suggest placing the lever in a gear position (e.g 5th gear). The Gate shift kit only applies additional spring tension in 1st and 2nd gear, thus that technique shouldn't be compromised by this add-on device.

If adjusting the shift coupler in neutral, temporarily compress the GS tension spring to increase the space to allow the lever to move freely while adjusting the shift coupler.

Ok. So considering all this, I guess my method wasnt bad. When you move the shifter to the left it compresses the spring and pushes the bolt/locknut up which creates a space between the bottom of the nut and the piece that holds the spring assembly on.

So I put the lever in the correct position and locked it in place by placing a metal shim in the space. Then I rotated the coupler and tightened the nuts.

I haven't driven it yet. But it feels fine when I move through the gears

The adjustment worked out great. The transmission shifts perfect. One thing I forgot to mention, the tabs on the left side of the shifter work as a great guide for making sure the shift lever is vertical. Just center the tab on the lever between the 2 tabs on the shift housing.
