A/C upgrade

I am thinking about upgrading my 83 SC 3.0 to the newer style rotary compressor. Can anybody give me a heads up on this conversion? Does the bracket have to be modified much?
Thanks

It depends on the brand of compressor you go with.I went to the Sanden rotary comopressor on my 83SC and had to have a new bracket made.

The previous owner did the conversion. It looks like a new compressor bracket was welded to the original mounting platform.
Here's a picture of the compressor mount. I had to remove it to do the chain tensioners which made for a good photo opportunity.

Replaced the original York last year on my '79SC-bought the kit from Griffiths-compressor w/bracket, all new barrier lines & drier. Everything was an exact fit-even reused the belt

Hello

There is a Zyxxel aviable who is a direct ( You have to change the hose block ) replacment for the later ( 3,2 L ) Denso units. I think the application is VW, Mercedes and Volvo.

However they are in rotary vane or woble drive aviable.
