Header Pipe Thicknesses, What are you running?

I'm trying to find out what everyone suggests are good ranges for header pipes. Let me know your displacement, cam profiles (agressive, mild, etc.), and what diameter your header pipes are...

Thanks,

Wayne

I believe most aftermarket Carrera 3.2 headers are 1 5/8" diameter.

Would love to get a pair of shorty, equal length turbo headers made up for my 3.2, match port & polish the exhaust ports and slap on a couple Hybrid T3/T4 Garrett turbochargers and be done wif it

Now THAT would be a kick-a$$$ setup

One 'slight' problem is $$$$

Headers which I have had in my hot little hands include,

The B&B headers which come in 2 sizes;
  • 1 5/8" OD(1 1/2" ID)
  • 1 3/4" OD (1 5/8"ID)
both versions have ~30" primaries, the 1.75" version feeds a 2 1/4" OD(2 1/8"ID) collector and weighs 26#. The 1 3/4" version is appropriate for 3.6-3.8 liter, the 1 5/8" version is appropriate for 3.2-3.4 liters

The SSI which has 1 1/2" OD(1 3/8" ID) primaries are ~31" long, and feed a 2" OD(1 7/8" ID) collector. They weigh 24#. They are appropriate for 2.4-3.0 liter engines.

964 Supercup headers are 42mm (1.654")ID primaries, ~31" long, I lost my weight #s for this one, and are appropriate for 3.6-3.8 race only engines.

Usage, cam profile, intake/muffler design can also affect the appropriateness for a given application.

Jack, congrats on the new headers, it never stops does it?
