Can you identify this for me? Wire into trans-

Hi- doing my first engine drop and I have a small wire going into the RH side of my transaxle, right above the CV joint flange. It seems to be retained by a small bolt that has a hairpin looking piece that holds a cover. What is it? I assume it need to be detached before I start lowering things... Do I remove that bolt and fish out the wire or cable? Seemed like a good time for a break so I thought I'd stop and post it up. Thanks Oh, BTW, 1986 911 turbo.

Speedometer sender. You can remove from trans or disconnect the wires in the tunnel.

If you are dropping the engine and tranny as an assembly then you will need to disconnect and label the 2 wires from this cable in the tunnel when you disconnect your shift coupler. I would leave the assembly in the tranny unless your speedo doesn't work.

				Speedo wire or .....

On a 73T, it is more likely the backup light wire. I believe the early cars had a mechanical speedo, did they not? You still want to be careful with it.

				Oops my bad.....

Saw the earlier car and mentally put it to the wrong post. Yep, speedo wires.

				Interchangeable connections........
The two (2) brown wires from the speed sensor are interchangeable. They could go either way so long they are hook up separately to the connectors. But labeling them is a prudent practice. Tony | ||
