Can the vent in the middle of a dash be removed without taking off the whole dash?

I have a later dash on my '72 with a vent in the middle. The vents apparently dont move from side to side, and when I tried I broke one off. I can get it with tweezers and glue it back on but would prefer to remove the whole thing and do it right. Do I have to remove the dash? I dont want to just pull at it cause I allready broke it once.
Thanks
Russ

I think you can but to undo all 4 tabs is difficult and you would be better to come at it from the trunk. I have this on my own "To Do" list. I also think you might have trouble resuring the tabs with the new piece in there.
Do a search on "dash vent" here and you will find several threads with much more erudite response.

Pull out the clock. Gives you all kinds of room to wiggle and work.
Search should get what you need.
