What Are Everybody's Current Projects?

77 Targa- Lots of tweaking to do still, but big stuff will be a paint job (artic silver?) and completely redo the interior, new carpet and change from tan to black interior!

Hopefully with 1-2 years tops.

This all goes with planning on leaving my present Job of 13 years to go back to school, plus starting a family, and also moving across the country, so not much really

This is sort of a sensitive subject in our household, due the amount of time I have recently been spending in the garage and not with my wife and daughter – something which most of you can probably relate to. Anyway, over the last month and a half:
~New rear wheel bearings, both sides (mechanic)
~18mm rear sway (mechanic)
~15mm front sway new bushes mounts etc.
~Installation of true to period ‘S’ numeric temp and o/pressure gauge with new senders
~Replaced leaking rear screen seal and moulding.
~Complete strip of interior to remove surface rust - and soundproofing - from floor plan and rear shelf area (with angle grinder) caused by aforementioned leak, DOG OF A JOB.
~Treatment of all newly stripped metal with POR15
This weekend –
~Install new (and removable!) soundproofing mats
~Put interior back together

Of course the above doesn’t count the many little fixes and tweaks done on the way.
It’s been a heap of fun but I’m looking forward to a breather, as it’s been a bit full on.

My '74 project:

Had to trailer it to the Highway Patrol yesterday for a VIN verification... trying to get the title into my name. Was a little nervous... the car could have been stolen and full of drug residue for all I know... worked out alright, though.

Purchased C2 Turbo wheels with Pirelli P-Zeros for it a few weeks ago. Have been trying to get the McGuard locks off the original Fuchs ever since. Taking it to Al Reed and Wheel Enhancement this morning to let them have a go at it.... good thing I'm self employed.

Bought RUF front and rear bumpers last week. Should be arriving any day. Once I yank the original bumpers, I'll take it to the local Porsche body shop and drop the whole package off for bumper mounting, rear turbo flare install, aero mirrors install and Guards Red paint (re-spray of original color). I have a factory turbo tail but am thinking of going with a 3.8 RS tail.

After paint: find and install 3.6 motor, supsension, brakes, roll cage, Sparco seats, wheel, shifter, pedals, etc.

Hope to have pics of a finished car soon.... yea right. Prolly about 2 years to go

Last weekend I finally got around to changing my clutch cable. Boy did it make a world of difference. Have these P-cars gotten smaller in the last 30 years? On the '67 911 I used to have it was very easy to get to everything. At 6'4, however, the clutch cable on an '83 SC was a real bear, especially the trunion pin. I suppose you have to have tiny little fingers to work on these things anymore.

This weekend I really should get under the car again and re-adjust the clutch, change the oil; etc. Next summer maybe I'll finally get around to replacing the long-since-dead Targa top : )

Well as if most of you don't already know...I'm still rebuilding my '79 3.0L.
You know...there was a time that I was able to actually DRIVE my car... I can hardly remember...

Right now I am waiting for funding to be approved by Wing Air Staff ACC/CEXE for 1.4 Million to complete the top end of my motor.

Here is the latest.
Case is assembled.
Pistons are installed (Right side up)
New cylinders are ready to go on. I am at a stopping point until I get a wad of change in my pocket to send off the Heads to EBS for machining and assembly.
Then I just have to buy the small stuff like belts, plugs. ignition wires, filters etc.
So far I have reciepts totalling $4600 in new parts.
I am also toying with the interior. Going from Tan leather to black vinyl. Should look pretty good when I'm done.

I want to hear from Superman...hows your motor project going?

Well they are stacking up...

1. Interior change over Tan - Black.
2. Lowering and Corner Balance.
3. Install Oil Cooler and Fan
4. Install SSI and Dansk exhaust
5. Repaint the 993 wheels
6. Install the o2 meter
7. Get Body preped for paint
8. Take chrome stuff to powder coaters

I think that is it, but I am sure there are more....


The good news is I have all the parts... It is just time I need.....

-restore Fuchs to RS finish
-recover Recaro buckets (67R style)
-recover RS steering wheel
-minor repair to factory aluminum ducktail
-attach correct antenna
-detail RS motor (663 S/N)

My -71 911T still needs painting and new gas lines. Bought normal gas hose and they just cant hold the underpressure when angled, this causes that car can't get enough juice. But I got the car registered finally

The person who checked the car (registrant) asked me if that 911T meant a Turbo? That much for their expertise...after all, he opened the engine compartment.

I recently had the tach expertly rebuilt courtesy of Pelican Parts.(Blatent plug) Currently dropping the engine to replace broken exhaust head stud. While I'm at it, I am updating to Carrera Tensioners, new motor mounts, new fuel injectors, new rear Bilstiens, set the car to the Euro ride height, and install new dash cover. I'm hoping to have this complete in time for my wife to get me a new set of C2 Turbo wheels for Christmas and tires for my birthday (in Feb). Remaining projects:
A/C Upgrade (probably Griffiths Complete Kit)
SSI exhaust

Not really a project, but just a Saturday of general maintenance. Exchanged condensor fan motor on SC and adjusted parking brake on 944. Wax both cars and now it is time to drive!! Seeya
