Post What Are Everybody's Current Projects?

Ok, I admit it. I don't know everyone's name on this board and what projects they are working on. However, it seems like a lot of us have some really cool and interesting projects. I would like to learn more about them. How about a roll call on what everyone's working on right now? If you have pics on a webpage, don't forget to include url.

I guess it wouldn't be proper if I didn't start so here's a quick overview of my project:

70 911T stripped and rebodied as a 993. All new/updated interior, suspension, etc. Motor started life as a 78SC which is now a 3.2L with all the goodies, twin plug, crank fire, Haltech ecu, supercharged, intercooled, etc. I have been working on it for @ 2 1/2 years and in about a week I should have it on the road to tune and enjoy.

No this is not my car (I wish). It's what I want it to look like when I'm done.

Welp, did the right caliper last weekend. Had someone get my front tires right, so I don't shake myself out of the car.
1) I'm considering making my own RS style door panels. For a pic of these, check Perf Products Catalog, and remind Wayne to carry these.
Looking at the design, this does not seem very difficult considering the simplicity of them. We'll see how it goes.
2) Need to finish getting the rest of the AC stuff out: the front condenser (or whatever it is), and the rest of the hosing
3) Consider my engine options further. Rebuild? Get a 928 engine? I'm really wondering if I can put one in...a V-8 with mega horsepower that's still Porsche.
Or rebuild the 3.2. I think the HP gains in a 3.6 aren't worth the money really. But I'm wondering if a 928 engine might be cheaper to come by while still retaining all that HP.

Mark, I want more details about the status of The Beast. You've got a phenomenal car, there. What's the latest?

Personally, my car is about finished. Waiting on paint for a fiberglass front bumper and hood -- also having the AC put together, finally. I'm looking to have it done for a couple of track events in August.

currently the 80SC is getting neatrix bushings installed. (thanks to all the info on this board) . Last project was getting the wipers to park and intermittent to work. Followed the directions to get to the relay that is hidden behind (way behind) the dash . That wasn't the problem. Having the wipers park then became way less important. Not long ago read John Walker's advise on cleaning/bending the contacts in the switch on the column. Took it apart a few days ago, a little tweak, .05 cents worth of contact cleaner and presto....just like new. If you are reading this John: THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU. I am still somewhat inept, but at least I am armed with some hands-on information from this board. Thanks everyone!

1) This weekend, removing my seats and redyeing them the same color after making repairs.
2) Next week, replacing brake lines and rebuilding calipers.
3) About three weeks from now, I'm adding SSI exchangers. I'm still torn between the Mille Miglia exhaust and the Danske exhaust. I'll make a decision in a couple weeks on which to go with.
4) At the end of the summer, I'm upgrading my stereo system and adding MB Quart speakers.

Please post pictures of your project when you're done. That "Beast" is awesome. Are the side skirts actually arched in the middle or is that the angle of the picture?
If they are arched, it makes the car look as if it's pouncing.

Well, my 912 project is coming along- I'm finally into the putting-rebuilt-and-new-parts-back-on-the-car stage of it's ongoing 5+yr restoration (so I'm slow). Chassis has been cleaned of undercoating, new patch panels welded in, front and rear suspension sandblasted, painted, and rebuilt w/new bearings, (Poly)bushings, ball joints, (Turbo)tie rods, Konis, SS brake lines, and 16x6 & 16x7 Fuchs.

Entire electrical harness has been redone-replaced every terminal, new ATO-type fuse box, added wiring and high-current relays for the new H-4's going in, 3rd brake light, electrical fuel pump, MSD ignition, battery cut-off, etc.

Currently accumulating funds for a 2500cc (200hp, 180ft/lbs) VW Type 1 engine buildup and doing minor bodywork (lots of wet-sanding on existing primer) in the meantime.

Oh yeah, I forgot the Lexan windows, the conversion to dual-circuit master cylinder, the Wilwood proportioning valve, the Autometer Phantom guages, the powder-coated window frames, door handles, brake calipers, the replacement of every single bolt, screw, and nut w/stainless (for the body hardware) and new metric grade 8.8 cadmium-plated for all the suspension hardware.....

I'm in the process of installing a Ducktail, Waiting for my new steering wheel, and waiting to get my roll bar back from being adjusted. I would like to send it off to the paint shop within the next 6 months, but my wife wants to buy a new house. So the paint job will more than likely have to wait.

1968 Porsche 912 - my father bought it when I was 14 as a father-son project. Of course, we knew nothing about Porsches. This one looked good from 15 feet. Of course, we figured out that the pans were swiss cheese, the rear seats were gone, the engine was terrible, etc. So now, four and a half years later, the car is Volkswagen Silver Arrow Metallic with a glass 911s front spoiler, fully black powdercoated 6 and 7 x16 Fuchs wrapped in Dunlop rubber, a rebuilt engine I found on the 912 registry (Weber 40s and Bursch exhaust, otherwise stock), a custom, welded in four point roll cage, Corbeau Forza seats with Deist 4 point belts, redone interior, H4s, 19mm master cylinder, stainless lines with PBR Metal Master pads and Ate Blue/Gold fluid. This car is my daily driver and will be set up for occasional time trials, such as the POC short track series. (We already race vintage cars so there is no desire to take this one to full race spec.) The tranny is in terrible shape, so as of now the car is up on jackstands, ready to drop the transaxle. But while the car is there, it will be steam cleaned and have the engine compartment repainted, the battery will be moved to the pot box, and I'll fix the front spoiler(broke a mounting bracket, bent two more). I've begun disassembly of the bad motor, hope to make it a 1720 with head work, remote cooler, 050, all the goodies. But then again, it would be a lot easier to do what Clay is doing and build a big VW. I know where I can get a 2109 Type 4 that would make this thing move...

2 projects for me:
'73 RS, absolutely complete, but needs a nuts and bolts resto; in the parts gathering stages.
'88 Factory 944 Turbo Cup racer, needs some simple tweaks to bring back to original condition, not much.

My current project is my 1979 930. I had put new headers, muffler, and turbo on for a little more HP and bigger wheels as well as stiffer torsion bars for more grip. Unfortunately the Porsche upgrading bug hit very hard and now I'm aiming for a 3.6 liter twin turbo 600+ horsepower motor, with a stiff coil over suspension, and a six speed G50 to top it off. I just had my new front bumper put on and I'll be going to Thunderhill tomorrow. I can't wait to floor it all I want without fear of overheating. New oil coolers are great. I'll get the rear bumper put on next week. Once I get the car back, I'll post some pics. I also need to get a roll bar and six point harnesses in before I go to the track with the PCA on August 25.

Cool

After six months of persuasion, my girlfriend (soon-to-be wife) has allowed me to replace the front seats of my 1990 C4 to Sparco Rev bucket seats and a Momo steering wheel. I have to get her permission first because she often rides in the car, so this change affects her as well. She's the best!! (My girl and... the car)

Currently I have front and rear seals on order for my targa top, and then I have to adjust the windows. Also I am installing a 3rd brake light (the one that looks like a duckhead on the whaletale). Last month it was new brake pads and rotors on all 4 wheels and new bearings for the front. After this I start into the troublesome electricial on this car. I know that German electricial systems arn't that bad, this one is just a little screwed up (understatement)

Where to start???
First it is a 1965 911 (I'm sure this was figured out already, user name).
I bought it about 2 years ago, it was in storage for most of it's life. I don't have the original engine, but most everything else is. It is basically stripped of parts except for the interior. I have redone most of the suspension, brake lines, fuel line. I have been recoating some of the nuts and bolt, new metric bolts are hard to find in some of the odd sizes. I need to fix one minor spot of ruse, and one rocker panel needs to be replaced, other then that the car has very little rust. Then I will need to repaint and reassemble the car. I picked up a 1970 engine for it, I will use that while I rebuild the 2.2 that came with it.
THe whole project is on hold for a few months, we decided to renovate a 1940 house, of course went overboard on that, but one it is done I will work on the garage that came with it 30'X 50', then I will have more room to work on the car.
I hope to have the car done withen a year or 2...
One day I will get a digital camera and post some pictures.

And the big surprise is it is for my wife, she has alway wanted a 911. I will have to build my own after it is done.

Thanks to all on the site for all the advice.
Bruce
