1973 911 custom Airbox

Hi everyone,

I recently found a interesting picture from a 1973 911 T with a custom (fresh)airbox. The car has the intake over the left rear wheel.
It is obviously not common, I never saw something like this on a Porsche before at least. I do know it from the aircooled NSU TT cars though. Its popular there to get cold air instead of the hot engine air. The NSU cars doesnt have something like a heat protection over the exhaust as Porsche have.
So, is this fully custom made or was something like this available from a company ?

I'm sorry I can't answer your question exactly, but are you implying it's CIS? It looks to be webers under that box?

Hah! The 55 sticker- had to think about that for a second! Seeing that old York now makes it clear why PO of my car tossed it-must weigh 45-60#s

I saw this 911T with this adapation in 1993 in Eastern Washington area, near Richland. It was owned by very interesting fellow, quite an inventor of sorts, as he had also built a very special hydroplane boat as well. He gave me some of his 2.4T MFI components/gear (e.g the CMA book) as he had gone with the webers on his car. I was struggling to be my '72 MFI 911T running for the first time after it had been sitting for10 years. Where did you come across the picture if I may ask? For the life of me, I can not remember the fella's name but he was active in the local PCA region.
