Are you talking about the clunking/rumble? Sorta like a thump thump with no real timing to it.

That sounds like it could be your alternator bearing going. They make funny noises when they start to go and yet the alternator will still work. Take the belt off and rotate it by hand and see what kind of sound you get.

Also check for play in the shaft movement.
