Friggin' awesome. I'm seriuosly dumbfounded. I can't imagine that engine going into that car, which I'll say for the upteenth time, is the coolest thing on wheels in my mind.
Can't imagine driving that thing around. Just can't imagine it.

Hahahahahahah! I guess not. Please Make a video and a tape of that thing will you? Just driving around, a few fast starts. Your wife will be delighted to do it probably, knowing that there are those of us who pull our eye teeth for that chassis engine combo.

Congrats - judging by your posts over the period, this has been an "experience", and it must be great to get it together finally.

Rarly,
It's about friggin' time! Once you get that bad boy in (and don't tell me you haven't already done so...if it were me I wouldn't be able to wait!), you HAVE to change your plates....from RarlyL8, to NEVRL8!

hehehehe - thanks guys.
For all of you that have listened to my whining the past two years, it has been quite the experience. I only wish I could post a picture of what it looked like when I bought it, in full California smog get-up, greasy, busted, sitting on a broken palet. It still looks cluttered, but now I know what each component of the clutter does. Specs? - 3.3L 930 engine (misrepresented nightmare of a core motor - PartWerks of Chicago) - SC cams (Ross Motorsports) - Euro exhaust (Ross Motorsports) - K27-7200 Turbo (ImagineAuto) - 1.0Bar Wastegate (Ross Motorsports) - B&B Intercooler (Ross Motorsports) - Euro distributor (ImagineAuto) - ARP Headstuds and Rodbolts (ARP) - Sachs Sport Clutch for the 915 - Euro Injectors (Ross Motorsports) - 930 Fuel pumps (Ross Motorsports) - 930S Boost Gage (ImagineAuto) - A/F Meter (Racer Parts Wholesale) - New Fuel and Oil Lines (Porsche) - Misc Tin Parts, Console Mount (Some young fella from California) - 930 T-bars (Ross Motorsports) Dyno? Not yet. Estimated 350hp at the wheels. We'll see. Would I do this again? I'll let you know as soon as the boost kicks in. The money spent was absolutely obsurd. I am truly imbarrassed so don't ask. It would have been cheaper to buy a 930, do the mods, AND add a Ruf 5spd. I wish I were kidding. We'll see if the lightweight (2500lb) SC carries enough advantage to make up for that. I absolutely could not have done this without many people bailing me out when times got tough. Thanks to Ross Motorsports for not turning me away when I handed them a case with two half-dollar sized hammer holes in it and a truckload of parts that used to be a 930 long block. Thanks to WegengHause for bailing me out when my torsion bars were frozen, and for future help installing this bugger. Thanks to ImagineAuto for all the free advice. NOW - for the important stuff. That mini-might of an SC motor (~200HP) can burn both those massive 345s off the line. Cameras WILL be rolling for the full blown smoke festival that will now occur, so stay tuned. Hope to do this in June. And Kurt - be careful what you wish for. I'll NEVER get my money back. How much is a permanent ***** eating grin worth?

Hey Mark -
This whole adventure sure didn't go as planned did it? Remember waaaaaaay back when I contacted you after getting your name from the folks at Eaton? As it turns out I probably did the right thing. This is my first 911 engine tear down and my first experience with turbos. I have a lot to learn before going "big time" and trying a stunt like you pulled off. Injection and ignition are stock items for now. You should see the drawings and plans I have for this baby once I'm used to how she works! As for the 915, this may sound odd to some, but these trannies cost less than a set of Webers. If she blows she blows. My wallet no longer has a cherry. It's a terrible addiction isn't it.

Brian,
The motor looks killer. The thought of trying to figure out how much money is spent is ridiculous when doing a project like this. I'm sure the car is going to absolutely haul ass. My '70 with the 3.3 Turbo is scary fast. As for the transmission, my factory 915 runs great with the 3.3 Turbo motor. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results. Have a blast.

I will say once your blown you never go back. That didn't come out right but you will understand what I mean the first time you come up on boost. Now hurry up and get that thing in

Hey Rich I was wondering how the swap came out. You need to post an update for us.
The motor should go in sometime in June. Right now I have to get the car ready. The 930 suspension components are already in place, as well as the 930 oil tank. Now I've got to do some wiring for the extra fuel pump and A/F meter, cut a hole in the deck lid (OUCH) for the intercooler, and plumb the boost gage. 1st gear synchro is out on the 915 (go figure) so the tranny has to come apart as well. I also need to pick a few Pelican brains on wiring issues. I'll post on that later. I hope to film the entire process and post updates for those interested. The swap will take place at my mechanics shop so I should be able to shoot pix in phases as things progress. There is a much smaller project that has been lurking in the background for some time. I'm nearly finished with it now and will post a "can you guess what the hell kind of Porsche this is" when she's all finished. You guys are gonna love this one! Hint: Remember a while back when I was looking for 15" Fuchs?
