TEC2 efi- use or discard?
I was thinking of efi on a 2.7 with e or solex cams. I have a complete unused TEC2, but was unsure whether it would be better to go with a Bitz system ? Opinions welcomed...

Well the Bitz is a bit more specific to the 911 in terms of changing CIS to EFI and you don't have to mess with ignition since Bitz uses the factory ignition system.
But I wouldn't discount the power/capability of the TEC-2 system. It's pretty powerful and the DFU coil system is a nicely packaged ignition that is quite reliable for the most part, aside from some known instances of timing float. With the TEC-2 you're in control of both fuel and ignition and it becomes quite involved. http://www.electromotive-inc.com/pdf_files/tec99.pdf Certainly don't "discard" it. If you're going to throw it away, I WILL TAKE IT. ![]()

Kevin,
Thanks for the input and manual- lots of information! I thought either system could use a common plenum intake. I recognise that for either I will need fuel rails and had planned to use the 2.7 intake with Bitz's injector bungs. I also have TPS, idle air motor, narrow band oxygen sensor, coolant and intake temp sensors, Clewett crank sensor with pulley. I didn't know if one system would be better suited to more aggresive cams, whether one would be easier to set up and tune. |
