Jacking From The A Arm Cover
I know this has been covered extensively, and I have read a great deal about it.
When the A arm cover is used for jacking the front, my jack stands allow the weight to be placed on the bolts, not the cover. Is there anything that would be considered safe to put between the car and the stand? I will be working under the car. I was thinking wood, but maybe I need to get better fitting jack stands? Thanks for any help. |

cut a 2x4 to fit across both of them for the jack
then put the stands behind the F. tires do not mess up the exh. tips with too high an elevation |

Thanks for the reply.
Where did you jack the car in order to place the wood? From the nose? |

When I have to lift the front, I use my jack under the centre of the crossmember that is just in front of the fuel tank. I couldn't find any clear pictures of the location but this one should give you the idea.
![]() I replace the steel jack pad with a wooden support that fits snugly into the shape of the crossmember. If you make the wood long enough, you can put jack stands under each end either side of the jack. I also use this location as a central lifting point when I am corner-balancing and setting left-right rear heights. There is a drain hole in the centre of the crossmember which is useful to line up the jack so it is on centreline of car. It is a bit fiddly getting the jack in exactly the right place to commence jacking, but it works for me. ![]() ![]()

i will likely get hung or scolded for this but I use the a/c guard bar in the front and the sump plate with the Chilton manual on the jack in the rear ........
