I think it's a cool concept and execution. Well done. I hope you sell it for decent change. Have you built any other cool custom monsters?

Or perhaps wiser than some folks here. Porsches were "born" from VW's after all. Study you history lol. An no, no offense is taken. It's all good, clean fun. Anyone can buy and drive a Porsche. It's another matter all together to own a completely original "one-off". Most of the collectors who have taken a liking to the Ruf Bug are well aware of that.

Thank you. The car (and details) actually even look better in person! Not sure what I'm going to do next, but it certainly is time to move on to something else, hence the sale of the RUf Bug!

As Jerry Seinfeld's person car curator said to me, "Anyone that loves Porsches, that doesn't also love VW's, is just a "poser"!
obviously the majority of 911 owners "don't get it" and never will buy it, not to mention the bug has consistently placed in the top 5 of any "top 10 girl cars" list. who the **** cares what a lackey for a has-been comedian thinks?

funny how you just "jumped in" to this thread, and this board, the day this thread was started. i bet if i threw $100k and 6 years into my SC it would run circles around the circles your bug makes.

then why not sell it to one of them instead of multiple ebay auctions that apparently don't work?

Ok, at least now I see the mentality that's going on here. Does it matter that the "Lacky" is one of the Country's (if not the world's) leading authorities on Porsches and Porsche restoration? Or that the "has-been comedian" has one of the worlds greatest collectiions of Porsche's and VW's?

Damn, I would have thought that you at least like your own Marque?

Nuff said. I'll leave all you "big boys" alone to play with your cars. Sorry for jumping on board here. The Ruf Bug's always been (and I'm sure will continue to be) very well accepted in all the shows I've been involved in. Don't know what the "bug" (no pun intended) you have up your arse about the project is, but I apologize.

No, nobody is bitter. We all have a in common a love for a particular vehicle.

While it might have cost a mint to create this car, that doesn't imply that it has value to anyone here in particular. Now, on a New Beetle forum, it might be the most bad@ss car ever. It might also be true that the 911 grew out of the original Beetle, that car and the new beetle share almost nothing except a vague shape resemblance and the VW nameplate. Everything else is COMPLETELY different, including the Audi-sourced engine and the various A4 parts bin bits. Which has nothing to do with Porsche, past or present.

Claiming some kind of kinship between this car and aircooled 911s is at best a long stretch, and bringing Seinfeld's hired hand into the mix doesn't really add any weight to the argument. You're trying to sell a car - I see that. But RUF's offerings in the Porsche realm and this car also have very little in common, other than the RUF nameplate. A tuner New Beetle is still a New Beetle. Now, if it were AWD, I might pay more attention. An AWD turbo New Beetle? Give it 300HP and 300lb-ft of torque, lighten up the whole by a few hundred pounds, and now were talking a real performance machine. And leave the outward appearnace stock, and you have a Q-ship that will leave almost all sports car drivers with their jaws on the floor, both at stoplights and on the track.

no, it does not matter in the least. similarly it doesn't matter if you spent $100k or $1m, it's still just a bug. it may be a faster and smoother bug but it is still a bug.

I like the car, it looks pretty good to me. But, at the price, I'd chose others.
