Failing headlamp switch?

My headlight switch sometimes needs a tap on the pull out or a turn on the rheostat to get the dash lights to come on.

Failure notice on the switch or a loose connector? They are a PITA to get to and to test.....anyone BTDT.

Could be a dirty/corroded switch wiper.

In my opinion, pull the switch, clean the wiper.

No joy, replacement time.......

Good luck,

Gerry

got relays?

this often seems to indicate incipient failure, but could just be dirt & crud in there -- hose it out with elec. contact cleaner and see if that fixes it

Yep....relay kits for both the H4s AND the driving lights. Looks like I'll drag out the Bentley and start a diagnosis....

Hey M,

I attempted to rebuild mine but ended up replacing it, the rheostate just worn out.

If you do get a new one re-check the mechanism, for some reason the quality is not the same from PAG and I had it replaced. It should be a smooth but snug movement.
