3.0L to 3.2L engine conversion(swap). Help!
Hello all,
I have decided to swap out my toast 3.0L engine for a 85 3.2 engine. I have been doing a lot of reading. I am wondering if someone has direct instructions on the whole swap. I have searched on this and other sites, very hit and miss on direction. Any help would be great. I have wiring diagrams at present but somewhat concerned about fuel pump/lines as I am not finding much info on the setup. Thanks so much in advance! |

Fuel line sizes are somewhat critical, as too big or too small can affect the ability of the pressure regulator to function. It might be handy to find somebody in your area with a 3.2 that you could take notes from.
Does your 3.0 have a fuel return line? Sorry I'm only familiar with the 3.2's... Chuck.H '89 TurboLookTarga, 343k miles |

![]() ![]() I can help you with new replacement fuel lines & the latest in multi-fuel hoses. Shaun 84 Targa and others can help with wiring info and other issues. He has done the swap himself; is very knowledgable on this and knows where to source the parts. Actually, lots of info available from the entire Pelican community. A 3.2 upgrade to an earlier model is a very popular swap. Len ![]() |

You can re-use your 3.0 fuel pump. Have Len make your hoses for you - then the fuel system is handled. His work is great. The 3.0 has a return line and you will be reusing it with a custom hose.
My car is an 81 SC with an 85 3.2 in it. I reused the 3.0 pump because it was BRAND NEW and had Len build my lines at the rear. angela

Sorry I can't provide information with the swap, but I just wanted to extent a warm (or rather cold and rainy) welcome to Pelican from a fellow NE Ohio guy. Are you a member of the PCA? I am currently working on setting up a local (Strongsville area) cars & coffee schedule for PCA for the Spring and Summer of 2013. I'll shoot you a PM if you want, containing more specific info when I figure stuff out.
Good luck with the swap!

AS long as you have the 3.2 915 flywheel it will bolt right up. The only difference is that you hve to make the notch for the reference and speed sensors in the top of the transmission bell housing. Your 911SC based 915 casting does not have this sensor notch opening.
Just don't forget to align the clutch fork when you slide them together.

Oh and don't forget to put the starter ring on the pressure plate, many think (or forget to think) that the tone ring is the starter gear, there should be 2 rings back there. Several have done this
