SSI/Header Engine tin

Gentlemen

Can anyone confirm the p/n pls for the LHS engine tin for those cars fitted with SSIs or headers?

I've managed to order the wrong item - looks correct for a MFI car - #6 on this page (p/n 90110608304)

LINKY

I believe it should be parts #5 and #8 (first one) on the above page ?

90110608302 - engine tin long
90110682500 - engine tin square with hole

For reference, the RHS parts i've ordered which look correct are:

90110608400 - RHS engine tin Long
90110682600 - RHS enginer tin Square

I was looking as well and found one on ebay.

Parts 5 and 8 on your referenced page are the right hand eng. tin pieces.

The left hand tin you seem to want is circled below and has a part no. of 901.106.083.02 (from factory parts manual). The small heat tube indicates it fits an MFI engine.

There should be another version of that part w/o the heat transfer tube (for non-MFI engines). However, that number isn't listed in my doc.

The left side square piece with provision for heater hose pass-through is 901.106.825.00.

This link has a couple of sellers for 901.106.083.02; RICK RAES and tom1394racing.
Engine tin wanted

Hope this helps,
Sherwood

Thanks for the input

Pretty certain 5 and 8 are the LHS items in my diagram, just not correct for my car - 7 and 9 in mine are the RHS tin pieces and are the equivalent of your 26 and 29

Correct - I'm looking for the non-MFI LHS tinware item - both the 90110608302 and 90110608304 (which i've just purchased) are MFI items.

Think I may have found the correct LHS part: 91110608301 - one on ebay here

Again #5 but this time in the 78-83 catalogue - LINKY

Link suggests you also need 99970322440 which plugs the hole

Quick bump as i'm still unsure and these parts aren't returnable so don't want to make the same mistake

Any 3.2 owners running ssi/header with the hose running though the LHS tinware, care to confirm part numbers?

90110682500 - square part for hose pass through
91110608301 - long LHS tin

Unsure if the 2 are compatible and correct for a 3.2

Thanks

Here's my planned heat conversion for a 3.2, almost ready for refinishing. Engine tin marked with the letter "E" identify parts from an early 911 (<73). To ID part numbers, match this photo with the factory exploded parts illustration from a previous post. YMMV as to adequate heated air for your operating conditions. Obviously, more volume with a forced air blower motor.

Notes:
E1 from later 911s have a large hole for the hose from the engine-mounted blower motor. The hole can be blocked instead of using this early engine tin.
E3 provides an air path to the SSI/factory HEs from E2. It's a mirror copy of the passenger side tin (not interchangeable)
E4 will need a hole for the O2 Sensor harness and grommet.

Thanks for the visual sherwood

Are there any markings on your 'E4' part? Could you measure the length of that E4 pls?

I have the E1 part you describe on my 87 yr car - will continue to use that as I have partially backdated heat

Parts aren't handy right now, but here's one reference point. The three mounting holes onto the cam housing are the same dimension as the opposite (passenger) side. In addition, the length of E4 is the same as the pass. side up to the notch (cutout @ top left corner) to clear the engine oil cooler.

Here's another method. The length of the factory 3.2 version of E4 includes the dimension of E3. Thus, measure the current E4, then subtract the dimension of the pass. side hose guide, the opposite version of E3. The difference is the length of the early version of E4 (less the overlapped metal to assemble the pieces).

A third method: E4 spans the distance between the front (forward) end of the cam housing to the chain box cover.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need a more exact measurement.

to close this out - the p/ns below correlate to Sherwood's pic above (E3 and E4)

90110682500 - square part for hose pass through
91110608301 - long LHS tin

Thanks for your help Sherwood
