Not happy with the flywheel seal installation....
I pressed the seal in and it was cocked about 70 mils top to bottom. Then I pressed it deeper than flush with the case, and it squared up. A thin layer of Curil T on the OD seemed to make seal installation sticky going.
Should I redo the flywheel seal???

And now for round 2...... Second drop of 2013!
I didn't quite like the way the flywheel seal went in and I should have gone with my instinct and put in a new seal in (while I was in there the first time). Either way, I found nice green Brad Penn dripping out of that area of the flywheel seal. Worse case, I will become proficient at these drops. I managed to drive the car for a fun 500 miles after the first drop, and I will still be ready Spring, if it ever gets here. Still snowing here this 53rd day of February. Razzmmmm Frazzzmmmm!!! |

Flywheel seal dry or with sealant on OD?
Did you install your flywheel seals dry or with a sealant on the OD? I used a very thin coat of Curil T on the OD of the seal. I think the Curil T made the installation tight. I will research this more before the next installation.

I installed mine dry but the engine is still on the stand and the car won't be ready for a few more months so I don't have a verdict on dry Vs. Curil-T...
Nothing I read mentioned a sealant of any sort. I hope I followed the right instructions! Time will tell.
