Lucky!

I replaced my voltage regulator AGAIN late Saturday night and then took my Venetian Blue Carrera on a 225mi blast in the Ozarks. I remembered why I am alive.

Get some rags/parer towels around your pinky, and scoop as much out as you can. then position it upside down over a pan and spray brake cleaner up in the opening. finally clean compressed air if you need it.

What did you do to your 911 today?

Just ordered a set of leather seat covers for our 78 SC Targa. Still patiently waiting for all of our farmed out parts to be returned before rebuilding the front suspension. Shipped out the hardware yesterday to get plated by another pelican offering plating services. Oh yeah, sitting in the hospital ER with the wife waiting for her results and reading posts about others 911 work.

Blown seam on a drum tight 37 year old leather seat that no local shop will touch to fix. Although I did get a $250 quote to possibly attempt a fix but there was no guarantee, but the charge would still apply.

Front suspension refresh time! (AKA, my '74 911 had '65-'71 style ball joints for some reason)

this thing is really on there...

Success! heat + huge pipe wrench

damn it, key and keyway are not the same width, out comes the dremel

Success!

torsion bars look bad, time for coil overs and 935 spring plates and control arms!

success, celebrate with beer!

Blown CV Boots

Found this when swapping pads just 2 days till my fall DE. So had to spend big $$ and expedite one from our host, no time to rebuild which would have been waaay less cost. The new came with triple square head fasteners so will not be using them. I hate those things. My hex heads look great, have never had a loosening issue and the hex wrench fits the tight space much easier.
Have to say removal was one of the easier things I've ever done with big tools. Had this out in less than 30 minutes. I'll do the right side this winter maybe.

Wraping a PB soaked rag around the nuts and bolts for 2 days made a big difference. Came off like a charm.
Engine drop went without a hitch.

Finally finished blasting and powder coating all my front suspension pieces. Going to replace the torsion bars with plugged and plated units from Elephant racing whenever they get them back in stock, but in the mean time I figured I might as well powder coat the old ones.

I pushed it out of the garage for the fist time in two years. The engine however has not been run since it was built by Dick elverude and tuned on his dyno 15 years ago. Today was a blast seeing it finally run.

Added new tow/tie down rings. The old ones were ground down to about nothing and were unusable.
