Testa-Rossa, I am just about to re-install my front steering and suspensions.
Like you my parts were either painted or powder coated so there are no scribe marks from before disassembly. How did you index the TB with the new setup?

Found the root of my no-start issue. I had a feeling it was ignition the whole time, and it turned out to be a bad coil. Not too bad.

Looks pretty good! Did you use the rattle can or did you buy the thinned product and shoot it with a gun?

Well, yesterday to be accurate... Pulled my Spedo and took it to Buz from Seattle Speedometer, who was in town for the "one bike show". He's gonna make it all pretty again...

Went in deep, coming out slow

What started as a valve adjustment with a retired engine builder friend turned into a total rebuild. Words we will hopefully not use again for a while, "you know....while we are in here we should..."
Finally started putting all back together

Rattlecan.
Taped the edges, sprayed it on quite thick. Removed the tape and let it dry.
Retaped again, easy, sprayed on some more. Removed tape again.
Done.
Will be doing the centercaps later.

first plasti-dip

Adding an accessory on my glove box and had my first plasti-dip experience today. Painted the mounting plates and acorn nuts with anthracite grey. Turned out quite well with the rough finish.

I bought a used glove box door that will hopefully arrive next week. The PO removed the door so I've been without for the past four years. Should improve the looks of the interior.

I didn't take my roof off but removed the last trace of AC by removing the front blower motor by the spare and creating a patch panel to close the rectangular hole and some plastic sheeting to close the hole in the front bulkhead.

Installed 3 oil return tubes I should have replaced when the first one went bad. ARRGH! Also took my bumpers, mirrors and other small parts to the paint shop. Next week the rest of the car goes in for a new base/clear coat paint job. Looking forward to getting some of these parts I've been wanting to put on my car off the shelves on on the car.

Bolted on a set of borrowed wheels and tires today, and had the old tires removed from my Fuchs. Then boxed and prepped them for shipping. Monday they leave to be stripped and re-anodized.

What did you do to your 911 today?

Cheap fun. New old Momo wheel replaced the Prototipo and a more authentic looking horn button replacing the knockoff version.

I finally got the motivation to do some work on my 71. Installed the new master cylinder and ran the reservoir feed lines with new grommets. The suspension is all set to go back in. I had powder coated a number of parts. I still need to do new wheel bearing install. I decided to drain the 20 year old gas from the tank before I started installing the suspension. Dang that crap smells bad! There was close to 8 gallons of bad gas in the tank. Now that it's drained, how does the tank come out? Down and out? Up and out? Advice appreciated.

The tank comes out upward through the frunk.
Not sure about the fuel lines in your 71 as my car is an 86, in my case I had to remove the soft line from the tank to the fuel pump and disconnect the return line. The pump stays attached to the body of the car. That was pretty much for the bottom of the tank.
The tank was held by 3 brackets that I removed. Also disconnected the filler hose and vent hose on top of the tank, driver side, and disconnected the fuel level level sender electric plug (had to remove the metal piece on top of it first).
I used a hydraulic jack and a piece of 2" x 6" to push the tank up. The old seal was still holding on strong.
Your setup may be slightly different but this should get you going.
