Help Me Diagnose Weird Noise

I'm look to the PP Brain Trust for answers, let's see if you can help me with this noise problem.

Subject: 1984 Carrera, stock 3.2, 915 trans was rebuilt about 6 months ago.

Problem: Noise
I hear a noise, sounds like a buzzing noise coming from the right rear of the car.

Facts: (Noise is present when...)
1. Clutch is engaged or not.
2. Engine is cold, warm or at running temps.
3. Engine at idle or when car is driven.
4. Intermittant, but only for a few minutes will it stop.
5. Does NOT whine or accelerate with the rpm of the engine.
6. Does NOT accelerate with the speed of the car.
7. Noise will stop momentarily when I accelerate from a dead stop.
8. Noise is present in all drive gears.
9. (Here's the weird part) The noise is ONLY present when the weather is 50 degrees or colder. The noise is NOT present when outside temps get to 50 degrees or higher.
10. This noise was present before I had my 915 rebuilt.

I have looked for loose parts or unsecure cables or wiring.
My last engine drop I check for loose tin or other signs at the rear of the engine.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

OK, I've been getting what might be the same thing, although in my case it almost sounds like a hiss and it seems to be tied to suspension movment, but I can't be sure. I thought my fire extinguisher was sporadically leaking but that's not it. Does that sound familiar to anyone who's had this problem?
TIA-
