Hard "click" into second gear
Any help is appreciated, when shifting from first into second it is sometimes hard and you hear a click coming from the shifter bushings area. At low rpm's and a slow shift this does not happen. After replacing the shift bushings the "click" disappeared for a short time and then reappeared. Not coming from the coupler or transmission. ????

Year car? Model? Original or modified? Is this a new problem, or did you purchase the car this way?

Same issue here and every other shifting move is perfect after replacing all the bushings. Its hard to tell if the force is required by the shifter or if it is a matter of finding the right position inside the transmission. Can a coupling adjustment get us past this issue or is a 915 deal with it issue?

I have the same issue on my '86 Carrera with 72K miles on it all original and I also replaced all the bushings in the coupler and the shift lever. Mine is worse if I shift too slow into second gear.

In case you missed it THE transmission guru on this sight asked you some questions. If you're looking for help you might want to respond ![]()

First and foremost, I wasn't aware of any transmission guru's on this "sight". I simply posted a topic on the "site" hoping someone would have some useful input for my, and what appears to be others problems. It seems as though you have nothing better to do than be a cheerleader for others. Sometimes people like you really irk me, mind you own business unless you have a solution to the problem. BTW, my info regarding my car is listed in my garage. ]

might just need a little shift coupler adjustment... a little at a time and road test it.

I tend to agree, I will give it a shot. Like I said, after the bushing replacement it shifted well, no "click". Possibly, as the coupler shifted, back to the problem.
Thanks for the info. |

Shifter adjustment and try a 2 stage shift.
Pull out of 1st, slight pause and then pull into second. Not one full pull. Most 915's respond well to adjustment of both shifter and driving style. |
