Dash Swap Quesiton

Can you put an 85 dash into an 88 911? I thought that since the assembly was different (85 you remove the windshield, 88 you don't) that you couldn't swap the dashes out.

I think the aircon vents are different for the 85 vs 86-89. I am also planning to replace my dash pad and looks like the 86 is different from the 85 below, not sure though.

A few years ago I put a late 80s dash in an 84. Reverse of what you are doing. I had to cut the center vent opening larger. Enlarge a few mounting bolt holes and the early dashes have 2 defrost vents while the new one has a large metal trim piece all along the back. Some trimming may be required for that. I posted it on this forum a few years ago so u can likely find it.

I wouldn't do it. Look for an '86-on dash.
