Another ST-build - this time from Denmark
 

Some information about the car: It is a 1972 911 2.4S. When I bought it in 2008 it looket like this:

The original engine was gone. The previous owner had bought a new 3.0 liter Carrera case and used some of the parts from the 2.4 liter to make an engine. It was not running very well, so I had it taken apart. I decided to make a good, solid street/track engine, that looks like this now:

It produces around 260 hp at the flywheel at the moment and it is great fun on the track. I also got the gear box rebuilt with a limitid diff. Pictures from the track:

I bought the car in Sweden in 2008. Some Swedes had made it into a G-model at some point. Here is a picture from their build.

My plan is to turn it into an F-model again. But with a twist - a 1972 ST.

It's a pity that the original engine is gone, would be a neat to see an original 2.4S so close to my location :)

In case you're interested, I have a 2.4S engine with 2.2S pistons, ported MFI heads etc that I won't use, though it does not have original S case anymore.

The car will be yellow again. From its birth it was light yellow - "Hell Gelb"

The Swedes made it a darker yellow, that I really liked, but I am going for the original color when it gets to the painter.

The engine is made withe these specs:

930/Carrera engine block
95 mm cylinders
JE pistons 10.5 comp. Adjusted to 10.2
Carillo rods
3.0 Euro Carrera/2.4/2.7 crank
Carrera 3.2 heads with new valves and guides. The heads were fitted with a special flange and drilled to accept the MFI injectors.
GE 60 cams
MFI setup with throttle boddies and stacks from a 2.2 S
KN aircleaners
Dansk Stainless steel heat exchangers
Stainless steel 2 in 1 out muffler.

In this trim it made 260 hp on the dyno. I have now replaced the heat exchangers with a set of 40 mm headers. I am also going for a pair of 42 mm throttle bodies, as the ones from the 2.2 are way too small for the Carrera 3.2 heads. That should add a bit of HP...

Unfortunately I don't have pictures of doing the rear fenders. The car had Carrera fender flares on it. The were not even and the previous welding was not very good! My body repair guy is really old school and very thorough. I got hold of a pair of reproduced ST steel flares that were welded on when the Carrera flares were cut of:

Yes that is 9x15 Fuchs. Probably from the front of an RSR. Never restored. I was lucky to find them a few years ago:

Looking forward to the build, hope you can post a lot of the welding work, like rear quarter bumper sheetmetal. you have a rare 68.5-69 decklid.

What identifies it as a 68.5-69 decklid? And how rare is that?

Thank you, I'm considering going ST on my 73 at some point.

late 68 and 69 used a "3-bar grill." One in the center and 1 at each end. In 70, Porsche added 2 more bars since the grills so easily deform. These decklids therefor only have a center tab whereas 70-on grills have 3 tabs top and bottom.

The decklid is fairly rare.

Yes there will be chromed trim. I allready got the chrome euro headlights and euro front turn signal lenses - though the ones in the rear will be the US style, I like them all red and white :)
