I am absolutely in love with the way my car looks also.
These wheels are all the right sizes in all the right places... Can't stop going in my garage just to stare. |

Just got my NHS refrubed gauges, back so it is time to drive :cool::cool: |
I'm going in a bit of an Outlaw direction with my car. No tail, sits a hair lower in front, with front lip (of course)
Leaving my centers off, brushed finish on the lug nuts, with a bunch of old/period correct tasteful interior/exterior mods. I'll be done in a few weeks, then I'll post pics. |

I've been quietly watching this thread and Flat Six's old one for the past month. I've ordered my 17" Euromeisters and already have my 205/50 and 245/40 RE-11s. As soon as I mount them I'll post some comparison pix from the original 16" Fuchs on my '84 Carrera. The tires look huge but now that I've seen Draco's I'm happy. Thanks for posting!

205/245, you will have plenty of room to spare ;)
|
Hi Jim... They really do look good! - I ( and others I'm sure) would like to see those big boots of yours from the rear. When it's day light, how about a photo from the centre rear?.

surething Michael :D

I am kicking myself for not going 205 or 215 instead of 225 up front.. |
Thanks guys. My reasoning for the smaller tires is a below-euro ride height, just a little. The 205 Bridgestones are wider than my existing 205 Michelins, I'll put that in my comparison too.
I'm waiting for my wheels, still...... |
Looks great Jim!

Part 1: 17" wheel comparison.
Got my wheels and tires mounted, here's a comparison between the stock 6X16" front/7X16" rear original Fuchs and the new 7" and 9" Euromeisters. My original tires were Michelin Pilot Sport 205/55 and 225/50. The new tires are Bridgestone RE-11 205/50 and 245/40. Original 16". http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1363895751.jpg New 17" http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1363896224.jpg More 17" http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1363896365.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1363896402.jpg I'm really happy with their look and quality, one of them had a little shipping "accident" that might have to get taken care of, we'll see. I have some input and pics about tire sizing that I will post forthwith... |
Part 2: 17" wheel comparison.
In a perfect world I would have been able to "test and tune" tire sizes by trial and error. But, instead I enlisted the help of my forum friends and based my online purchases by virtual means, a risk I take sole responsibility for. I'm really happy with the wheels and especially the tires, they stick! Just a few pointers... It's hard to see in photos but the sidewall stance of the front and rear are a little different. The rear sidewalls have that "stretched" look that I like while the fronts are normal. Here are some comparison pics of old/new but look at the rim lip/sidewall difference between the new tires, on the left. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1363897934.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1363897950.jpg Of course, the way to remedy this would be to get 8" rims in the front or 255s in the rear but it's not that big of a problem for me to change it. I can't remember off hand if 8" rims came with the 23.3 offset but that would be my preferred way to go. I also think I've maxed out the aspect ratio on the front. 205/45 would have been better. I have plenty of clearance though, so all is good. Here are some more comparison pics. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1363898427.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1363898446.jpg Well balanced wheels, only 1oz. of weight. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1363898530.jpg I'll leave it at that. I can't wait to slam some corners with this set up. Off to the alignment shop! |
Awesome! It's unreal how these transform the looks/lines of the car.
I am now kicking myself even harder that I didn't go with a narrow front tire. I gtg mine priced back together and post some pics. |
Looking awesome Endoquest! Well I went a different route with mine, I got my 17x9's Euro's and mounted them with 255/40/17 Yoko S-Drives but I stayed with my 16x7's on front. On this pics I still have the old Proxes TS on front but will be mounting S-Drives 215/55's. Just got to adjust the height a bit on the back and I think it will look good.

^Hows the balance on the car with the different wheel height and tire width combined?
|
Nice ride ipsalsaman, the lower rear will even it out well, more pics!
I'm taking the car to alignment right now and next week I'm getting a corner balance. Just driving it already feels great. My ride height, after the swap is right at euro spec. Any lower would be too much. The tires are awesome, even now in cool weather. Cheers! |

I weighed my OEM 16" with tires. My new tires come in tomorrow, so I'll be sure to post up before/after weights to compare 16" vs. 17".
