Exclamation Strange noise at idle

1987 carrera coupe, 100 cell cat, stock muffler, SW chip. runs great...
For a long time now, I have had this hollow metalic sound at idle. It disappears when revs increase and it reminds me of a water pump sound on water cooled engine cars needing service. I tightened many of apparent vaccum hoses, intakes etc...
It might be a natural carrera sound...
Any suggestions on getting rid of it? Thanks

does it sound somewhat like a kazoo, and is it located near the right side of the engine compartment? If so, it's probably your Auxiliary Air Valve.

strange noise at idle

I can not locate the source and location of the noise..it comes from the engine area...

Yes the noise is not there at higher engine revolutions.

I will evaluate results of depressing the clutch

If you've owned the car a long time, is this a new noise? or something developed over time?

Noise.

David,

Have a look at the engine mounted heater blower unit during idle.

There are several mounting points.

Good luck,

Gerry
