Driving a Royce through India would be like driving a Corvette through Vietnam, I mean seriously, if you guys have ever been there you would know that this place is nuts to drive almost anything - including an auto-rickshaw. If I were one of these guys I would forget it and have the car at a summer home in another country, but I guess that would defeat the purpose of an Indian owner having one of these cars - to showcase their wealth. Tire pressure at 6 pounds? You gotta be kidding me.

...tire pressure reduced 'by' 6 pounds, not to 6 pounds.
Hey, why not, if you have cash.

I thought so - imagine that you had a nice 911 and could not drive it anywhere because of crowds, road conditions, etc.

And it is at least as technical as half the posts on here...

You don't want a nice car in India. Even on the highways between cities, you have to share the road with motor bikes, pedestrians, and livestock. You're constantly braking and passing, even in a normal car. And cars don't last in India.

I couldn't think of a worse place in the world to own anything exotic. The roads are a mess, particuarly in the vicinity of the airport - they become even nastier during monsoon season. The only real extended highway that I am aware of where you could air out any type of super or sports car is the road from Mumbai to Pune.

There are old Porsches in the city though. I saw a RHD 356 there two years ago.

Only got himself to blame. Here in Los Ageles my dailty driver is a 82 Landcruiser. Good ground clearance, rugged for the rough city roads, and it does not attract any attention. The right car for going everywhere and parking it anywhere here without having to worry abaut a thing. I understand Clint Eastwood drives a rusty pick up truck downtown to Carmel.

Ouch. You're not counting LED dash light threads or Playa stuff in the non-tech percentage, right?

Seriously, what you gonna do if you like cars and you have dough AND you live in India?

It is what it is.
