My Boge won't Budge. Insert from Hell!

[B] OK, I've read all the posts tried all the techniques BFH etc. I even log-chained the insert to a concrete light pole and tried to pull it out with my FJ-62, log-chain broke. Insert won't budge. It's not vacuum for all the liquid is out. There is no ring or gasket around the top. It still spins. There was no gland nut on it and it's really a thick strut insert pole compared to the one's I've seen. Boge 911 343 041 02 Driver side. Do you take this to a machine shop? Can I cut it out some how? Does anyone have one to sell? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to have a Hernia repaired (from the turbo tie rod removal last mo.) june 7th so am anxious to get this job done.

Thanks Draco I will post one so some one can recognize this insert so I can see what the part inside the strut housing look like... I was reading up on Bilstein's and they have a hole in the Bottom where the Ball Joint attaches. So can I drill out the Boge and Beat it out from the inside?

bilsteins have a roll pin at the bottom that holds the insert in place. make sure that's not what you have. what color are the housings?

get a wire brush and scrub them to make sure. i thought mine were black but it was just a layer of grime and they were green underneath (bilstein). or look for a roll pin hole at bottom of the strut.

Ok They're out. Now the KYB's inserts don't fit. Too large won't even make it past the threaded area... I would surrender and take it to a mechanic. Nothing in BFE tho'... So do I need to beat 'em in 8( or order the Sachs-Boge inserts?

Post some pictures like suggested ... you have to make sure that your KYB inserts are for a BOGE strut and not a Bilstein strut as there is a difference between the two ...

It's always easier to reinstall the well proven Bilstein HD or SPORT inserts made for the appropriate Boge model strut!

Cheers

Hold on a little!!! This isn't a job for brute force!!!

How did you get the old ones out?
It the didn't come out very easy something is wrong, maybe the struts are bent. Then you need new struts...

This isn't rocket science......You've got the wrong inserts. Or the right inserts but someone changed the struts.
Post some pictures so we can see what your working with.

Bingo Pete! Ha! Y'all are great! Last owner changed the Driver side strut tower to post '85 ( I smell a Fender Bender). It had a Bilstein sport jammed in there. Curious to whats on the other side as I see a GREEN strut cover. Maybe I can still use one of the KYB's and save some lunch $$. Threads are on the outside. So assume the Sachs is what I need. I will order from our gracious host ASAP. Any one need some KYB inserts? Bwahaha

Take measurements of the spindle angels to insure they are not bent either.
