He gets more publicity by hating than liking. But he pretends to hate. And acts the opposite to Hammond and May - both Porsche afficionados.
If he didn't love Mercs you might think he harboured stereotypical English anti German sentiment.
It's one massive pisstake with JC - and he's laughing all the way!

He once wrote that his hate for 911s started in the 80's. He said he was a country boy who had just moved to the city. He was broke and jealous of those who had. And at that time, when you had money in the bank, you bought a nice shiney red slant nose 930. So he began to associate Porsche 911 ownership with wealth. Kind of ironic that now that he's beyond wealthy, he admits that he likes driving new GT3's better than any other car.

Jeremy Clarkson on Porsche - BBC Top Gear

He's not making this up you know?

Quote:
Today though, I have the impression that Porsches are built by people who have an enormous collection of small screwdrivers. They really like choosing the exact composition of the tyres and the precise calibration of the fuel injectors. This is why the engine bay of a 911 looks like the back of a washing machine. It’s because it was developed by engineers, possibly the best in the business, and they don’t really care about aesthetics. They only want to build an equation, a formula, which will
go round the Nürburgring as quickly as possible.
So, when you buy a modern Porsche, you are demonstrating to the world that you are very interested in driving. And being ‘very interested in driving’ means that, for you, it is a hobby.
This is bad. Hobbies are for people who were caught masturbating as a child. They were told by their mothers that it’d drop off unless they got out of bed and did something useful. So they did. They built model planes and collected stamps. Some may have taken up ornithology. This will have made them very unpopular with their peers who could think of many more exciting things to do with bushes and birds. Show me someone in a 911, and I’ll show you someone who was bullied at school.
I have no statistics to hand, but I bet a great many golfists drive 911s. It’s because of what their mums told them. That they must have a way of filling their time that doesn’t include shuffling off to the loo with Asian Babes. They are not wankers, then. And that, weirdly, is exactly the problem.

My opinion...he is a brash, loud mouthed bully. It's his way of picking a fight without having to take a punch.

Its all showmanship. I noticed that he rags on Yanks, BUT when he has an American guest he is quite the opposite. He seems to be brash and bullyish, but I really don't think he takes himself seriously. It seems to me that he loves what he does and has a bunch of fun doing it.

Why does Jeremy Clakson hates Porsches?

...for the same reason that the title of this thread is a good one.

"Jeremy Clarkson" as we know him is a character on a TV show.

You have to give him credit for punching Piers Morgan.

That's good. And funny. And very true!

A lot of the world hates Porsches. A very polarizing automobile for many reasons (social, economic, historical, engineering, and success amongst them).

I both built model planes and collected stamps, though never had more than a very casual interest in ornithology.

He's overltly liked some over the years, and overtly panned others.

He popped Piers in the puss at a press/awards reception, gaining props from this PA boy.
I know, alliteration gone wild.

Oh my!

Frankly I love it - his absolute disgust with any car that uses a straight axle (a lorry!) busts me up. They are ALL hams of the highest degree, but the show is a treasure overall.

It's all for show. There was one episode where he praised the new 997 (I think). Or maybe that was the Cayman...

But of course, at the end of the day, the 911 is just a flattened Beetle. And the designers are the laziest of the bunch, not having changed the basic shape for what, 50 years now? (As he has said on a few other episodes as well.)
