A/C Fitting
This problem is actually on my '99 Boxster, but it also applies to any late model 911 with A/C. I had to remove the A/C return line (running under the car) and now the rear fitting leaks when I try to pull a vacuum. I replaced the o-ring, but it still leaks.
This is one of those single bolt aluminum fittings with an o-ring. Do I need a fatter o-ring or is the female end of the connector damaged slightly? I figure you 911 guys have run into this before. My '70 911 has the standard dealer installed unit without any of these issues. Is there any other way to stop the leak? David Nolen '70 911T '99 Boxster |

Sounds like the fitting you are describing is 'peanut' fitting.
1) Recover the refrigerant. 2) Disconnect the fitting. 3) Inspect the fitting and its mating part to insure there is no corrosion, particles, or 'damage' (scratches, gouges, etc); use a 2x to 5x jeweler's loop. 4) Reassemble using the correct size o-ring lubricated lightly with refrigerant oil. If you look at the Porsche Parts Catalog for the connection at the compressor, usually its MG (main group) 8, SG (sub group) 13, you can pin point the o-ring, its PN and size. 5) Pull your vacuum and do a gross leak test. 6) Charge, test and inspect. 7) NEVER inject any 'stop leak' into the refrigerant system, it will become a nightmare. 8) or just look up on this forum Howard Freeman, he has extensive Porsche Repair experience in your location.
