Removing that darn lock knob guard-thing

The guard for my lock knob had a piece snap off, so I ordered a new guard from our host. However I can't get the darn old one off! Is there a trick to releasing the glue without tearing the vinyl? Or should I just go after it with an exacto knife?

+2, you may need to use a pin tool or simply twist off the out cover and it will take it with it. Lefty loosy.

Damn it broke

The surround actually has threads on its inner opening and screws down onto the inner door panel it helps hold the door card against the inside of the door. Remove the screw, pull straight out on the knob, then like Draco said, "lefty loosy". -J
