Talking Long: Projekt Widebody My IROC Rendition

Our Father/Son SC for the track/DE and sometimes street project is starting to make good progress now that I have started new medication for my Crohn's Disease. I am up to full strength and now although only being able to work one day a week it is starting to progress.

I am starting to think color and am looking for opinions.

Stage 1 - Stock SC - absolutely rust free with a 46mm PMO carbed, MSD'd, SSI'd 3.0 and Monty. Not fast enough.

Stage II- Due to headstud issues, we installed DC-40 cams, 10:1 pistons, headwork and made a respectable 256 hp at the wheels. FG IROC narrow bodied bumpers, stripped for weight, 930 brakes, Elephant suspension and tuning, full cage, race seats, and many other mods.. Fast but not enough grunt.

Stage III - 3.8 engine build - 365 hp to the wheels, now were talking.

My New Track Engine Debut

The beast is in!

See Page 2

Continued from above.....

Stage IV - Widebody Projekt -Now with all that power I need more rubber!

Using TRE FG Bumpers / hood & IROC gear. Alton/Zuffenhaus 17" x 9" & 17" x 11"wheels. Front fenders are steel 930 fenders from TRE.
The pain of the first cut!!!

The sunroof will be welded in with a custom fabbed piece from Chris at Fenn Lane Motorsport in jolly old England.

I am going to go with '74 period correct race seats, maybe in houndstooth. '74 outside mirrors, no flags.

This is a Photoshop rendition keeping the stock Ivory color, I like it.

I had wanted a wild color, orange or viper but I like the understated elegance of the Ivory.

Please feel free to give your opinions, as I know you are a shy bunch of fellows.

Very nice progress, I really like the Ivory because you dont see it too often. I would be interested in seeing the progress of the sunroof delete, I am considering doing that as well when I get my respray.

Stock colour is great - love it!

I'd also be interested in more details of your earlier engine work. I like the idea of 250+hp from my SC

Why not do a duck or the IROC tail? Why not IROC decals? Car looks GREAT, btw.

Thanks fellas.

The last pic is a PS rendition, so I am not sure which way we are going with graphics. I have and like the early 930 tail. I read that the early IROC cars used the early 930 tail. Anyone know which seats were actually used in the IROC's?

John, I'd love to paint it Irish Green, but it belongs on an early car, my next project. I was put on Humira and hopefully this will hold the Crohn's down.

I'll document the install of the sunroof delete. I happen to own a spot welder and will be using it for the panel install.

Over time the Ivory has grown on me.

do I WISH that the build has been it quick and sweet.

Doing things in one's head, they go very fast. Actually doing the jobs, well they take time

Thanks

Finally, some real progress!

The yellow primer is such a close match to the Ivory it's not even funny. Like flat Ivory.

Final paint in the next few days.

Well, we started back to work a few weeks ago sand have all the glass in, and the rear of the car buttoned up.

Today we fitted the front fenders, inside rear view mirror and tail grills.

Next week will be fabbing our custom hidden tow receiver and possibly mounting the front bumper.

The side view mirrors, seats and carpet is all that is left. I can't wait to mount the 315's on the 11" Alton/Zuffenhaus 17" Fuchage.

The 3.8 starts right up even after a long hiatus. Some oil and condensation is burning off in the video. We installed CC Inserts and they quieted down the 3.8 just enough.
