What's missing??

Looking at an 83 sc. Looks like the fresh air blower has been removed. Is this common and what are the advantages or disadvantages? Also in the pics below what else is missing or added. Thanks all TOM

it is removed when you backdate the heating. there are many threads on this. it cleans up the engine compartment. the blower helps move hot to vents at idle speeds. it also occasionally catches fire.

You're also missing the cover for the rear fuse panel and you should source the left side block off plate so your cooling air doesn't bypass the engine.

Doesn't look like you have hydraulic tensioners either...

The blower has been removed but the ducting to backdate has not been installed. The car will not have heat.

Cap that left side duct, you are losing a LOT of cylinder cooling air out of there. They sell a block-off cover that eliminates the duct or you can cover it with metal tape or a plug.. as Tim said no heat.

Thanks for all the responses. I have not bought this car I am looking at it and noticed all the open space in the engine compartment and was wondering what was missing. Now if I install the ducting I will I have heat ? Also will this solve the cooling air problem? The car is from Florida and Georgia so I guess heat wasn't needed. Thanks again.

Just asking again is it only the duct that needs to be replaced?

You will need the duct that goes to the blower motor which you will also need. Then you will need the 2 hoses that goes to each heat exchangers.

If it has heat exchangers. The exhaust may of been replaced without them, it is an option.
Look underneath and make sure it has them, if you want heat in the future.

No heat exchangers headers I guess that means no heat? I read the quick and dirty thread thought that would be any easy fix but now that I see it has headers is there a way to still get heat?

not really. you could get a webasto gas heater but those are rare and probably dangerous. or sell the headers and get heat exchangers, someone would probably trade you.
