How to make more power out of a 911 T 2.0
Hello,
I am looking for upgrades on a 911T 2.0 engine that i am installing on a 914 GT replica. Which way would you go ? Higher compression pistons ? Cams ? Valves ? What carbs ? Ignition ? an engine is an air pump
to pump more air: 1. use a bigger pump 2. spin the pump faster 3. pressurize the pump it will be costly to make your engine into an "S" version with carbs (which is close to the limit, barring 1,2,3 above) but that is where you're at I like carbs (cuz I are a cave man) but you're giving up 5 or 10 hp over MFI or performance EFI You could always spend huge $$ rigging up a DI version of the 2.2 |

I understand about the air pump theory. I need to use the 2.0 T as a base
What does it ake to make an S engine ? I would like to have around 170 PS. I now have Zenith carbs not Webers. What PMOs do you wuggest or else ? What about cams ? |

is this for a class racer?
you'll want a balanced crank - maybe; there are some wt. adv.s to the T crank blueprint it real well, including the oil pump different heads and you can get better grinds than an S cam these days (due to modern computer aided design, etc.) you will match the PMOs to the cam to save $$, buy that 906 above & hotrod the Zeniths |

Don't some of the racer types covet these non-counter balanced cranks because they spin up faster?

You actually want a counterweighted crank which you lighten and knife edge.
An issue with a T motor is that the cylinders are iron and do not shed heat like the byrals which are iron liners with aluminum fins. The largest valves on 2 liter motors were in the 69 911S but they are rare and pricey. I cannot use newer ones due to racing regulations but i believe you could use 2.2 heads which are less expensive. I suggest you replace the oil pump for a newer large capacity one.
