I'd say about $20K if paint is original and compression / leak down on engine are OK.

BTW, I am sure that 90% of the folks on this board would buy that car for $20K tomorrow. If that is true, then that is way too LOW of a value to give this car. If I were counseling the prospective buyer, I would want to encourage him to get the best bargain possible. However, if I were speaking with the seller, then I would say, "You have a unique car here, anyone looking at this car will not be deciding between this and another equal car to purchase." and "If you sell this car, you must be willing to accept that you will never have the equivalent car again."

Be careful that you do not become the dreaded B.A. These cars should have a recognized value whether we are buying or selling.

It looks genuinely preserved, not restored, except for possibly a repaint. IF this was my car, AND I wanted to sell it, then the price would surely be somewhere NORTH of $30K, as it is a unique vehicle, I do believe, off the charts by any measure.

I am NOT a member of the SCWDP, but I know a really exceptional car when I see it.

I agree with Bill. If I had that car I would want about 30k.

Was the car completely restored? It looks too new to be original, especially oil tank area. There isn't a scratch there. I stil have a question about the paint. I have enclosed a picture. Is that a rust bubble or an area where the paint bubbled during a repaint?

We will probably find out that this car won some big concourse after a 3 year restoration...

Wow that car looks good! It looks like the dash center vent was replaced with the newer style, but those older ones were always too flimsy. Does it look like the exhaust pipe is hanging a bit too low?

I agree. The car is too unique to be close to the price of other 14-15K SC's. That car must have spent most of it's life in a bubble. No way the leather could look brand new after 24 years and 116K miles, even in California. It has to be a resto job or have been assigned it's own personal caretaker for the past 20 years. I have been working on mine for over three years and it doesn't look close to that clean.

We are not being told all of the information about this car. It has obviously been restored to concours condition. Clearly it is not a car that is currently being driven. This car does not fit into normal valuations. I am wondering what was the intent of the original poster?

I agree w. Paul... even here in California all things over time age somewhat. There is very little evidence of ANY aging anywhere on this car. I would have to say that there is more than meets the eye here, as in a major restoration job, or this car has been owned by PCA Concours fanatics exclusivley.

No doubt a beautiful car, just fantastic. But I think there is more "TLC" involved here than is being shared, not that there is any problem with it, but a 24 yr old 911 just doesn't look like this by running your duster over it 'couple times a week.

Tip 'o the cap to the owner, very nice !!!

From the pics (which can "lie" a bit), it looks to be in better condition and "newer" than my car that has 40K miles on it. Now mine is not detailed out or concours by any stretch of the imagination, but it would take some serious effort and $$$ to get my engine to look like that. Also, while my interior is very good, it is not perfect...some scuffing and warping on the dash, a seam or two loose, etc. What one would expect for a 23 year old car that has been sat in and driven. Maybe my PO wasn't fanatical and wiped it down after each use, but given the comparison, I'd have to say the owners of the red car either totally restored it, or were anal retentive and weighed 100 lbs.

Speaking of anal retention... I just calculated out that 1 drive of 2 hours every week, at an average speed 46 mph, for 24 years is, you guessed it, 116,000 miles!!

Yes, doctor, I will take my meds now....

The only flaw in your logic is failing to account for increasing traffic. The 46mph average is probably better represented by a sliding average that starts at about 60mph ('78) and moves to 32mph ('02). And if you really want to increase you meds, take into account the ownership change, and the concomitant increase in average speed with the new owner, followed by a negative spike due to traffic violations.

Wink Oh-my, nostatic . . .increase you meds

You should have stopped at "either totally restored it, or were anal retentive and weighed 100 lbs."
Spot-on!

Sorry to rain on the parade but what a piece of crap. If you look real close you can see a speck of dust (or heaven forbid GREASE) on the cooling shroud.

But seriously, as beautiful and pristine as this car seems, I agree with Steve W, I would be scared to death to drive it.

Good eye, Gary!

I would hope the SCWDP would deny admission to this car. A grease spot! Right there where everyone can see it! I'm disgusted.

I'll take the car for $10,000 before the owner does any more damage. (Strictly a charitable act on my part.)

Looks to be in immaculate condition. The question is how (based on age and mileage)?
I would be curious to know how that fan was done.
Truly a great example of SC.

Is that Brian Kumamato's car???

I know he had a really beautiful red SC that he had offered to sell me.
I knew it was out of my league, but after seeing these pictures, I wonder if I could sell my sperm or something... maybe a kidney....

Man, that is a thing of beauty.
We must bring this vehicle into the PLOT!!!

I don't believe it's real. Come on guys -- that thing looks NEW. Pictures taken in 1979?

If it is real, 30K sounds attainable.

Then why does the center console have the AC controls?
