No more Fuchs replicas?

I've been looking around at the possibility of buying some Fuchs replicas for the 930, and it seems that most of the major parts suppliers have stopped carrying them...

THis is starting to make me nervous, as the Fuchs are getting older, and having had several fail this year, I'm wondering what's going to happen 10 years from now... No more Fuchs, or will they cost $1500 a wheel...

Anyone know of a place that sells replicas?

A cool looking wheel that has the Fuchs "look" coupled with high-quality is the HRE 311 (IIRC). Fuchs style center with a 3-piece design; available in 17" sizes too I believe. Fairly spendy.

Chris, if rules allow it, also consider the (less spendy) 2-piece option. $1700 out the door, and you can put 245/275 rubber under stock SC flares.

Per wheel, per set, per pair?

If I recall, the HRE wheels are about $2600 a set... Ouch!

Jack, any reliabilty data on these bad boys? I'd worry about the welds...

Per wheel, per set, per pair?

Per set of four. $1300 for the machining/polishing/painting/rims, and $400 (what I paid, at least) for a set of four donor 16x6's.

Jack, any reliabilty data on these bad boys? I'd worry about the welds...

Well, Lindsey Racing has had a single set in competition use on a heavier car than mine for five years, now, without problems. I've put twelve hard track days (including 7 competition days) on my set without any signs of trouble. Considering that the 3-piece wheels tend to leak, and cost twice as much, I'm sold on the 2-piece ones. Simpler is better, in my opinion.

They cut out the centers from the 6x16's, heat up a rim, let it contract around the center, and weld it. Then they polish the whole thing and paint the centers. I believe another guy on this board had them anodize/paint a set for him.

The only other expense I had was mounting the new tires. I had a second set made for street use (8x9x17), which are on the car now.

More tire makes for more fun:
