1980 911SC - Tool Kit

The tool kit that came with my car is not 100% complete. My problem is not knowing exactly which bits and pieces should be included.

Attempted to search the threads but with no success.

Is there a good list for me to go to and compare to what I have?

Alternatively, if I posted a pic of what I do have would it be easy to determine what I am missing?

Thanks

jb

What's the loop thing with the spring on it? I'm also missing the spark plug tool, but am happy with the tools I have in the garage. Wondering about that other thing with a spring though.

Had seen the diagram and pn's in the parts catalogue but they did not help me a lot because I couldn't correlate the written description with anything.

Above photos should help me sort through the mess.

Few things I know I am missing: tow hook, spark plug socket and screw driver handle.

Why, dear god, do you care if you have a concourse tool kit in your car? Buy the same tools, even better tools from snap-on for half the price. Are you showing your car?? Or just need tools to work on the car. My advice, buy a new belt, a spanner, a 23mm 1/2" drive ratchet, a spark plug tool, 3" extension, a 3/8" ratchet, and a set of sockets (5mm-19mm), same for the combo wrenches 5-19mm. + any other special wrenches you might need.
Fixing the car in the field might be better than getting 99 points at Pebble Beach!!
And if you want to show the car, keep the tools unused/new and have a separate tool kit, with the above tools that work on the car.

Here is the link to the PET page on www. porsche.com

Porsche Classic Original Parts Catalogue - Classic Genuine Parts & Literature - Porsche Classic - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG

Worth downloading the catalogue for your year(s) for reference.

Why, dear god, would you make the assumptions that you did. My initial and follow up posts did not discuss anything that you commented on.

I merely wanted to find out what I was missing from my tool kit. I now have a better idea thanks to others on here. Whether I chose to purchase the correct factory tools or other tools is my decision - and my money.

Your advice on tool purchase was neither solicited or appreciated. Had my post been to solicit advice as to tool kit options, then your comment would have been appropriate.

No I think I am correct, take the tool kit out, keep the spark plug tool and sell the rest and get some good tools that work on the car. no need to thank me, it's free!

John,

This may help.

1. Screwdriver kit. P/N 911-721-107-02

2. Spark plug socket. P/N 999-571-054-02

3. Tow hook. P/N 911-721-051-00

Items 1 & 2 available from P/P

Item 3 is listed on eBay Item #360276981463. Not cheap!!!!!

http://dnssearch.rr.com/?q=www.dornstrauch.com%2C&con=nxd

Also, try Pelican member Blackbyrd.

Good luck,

Gerry

Perhaps "ArcticOne" merely wants to do what I did: I removed my nice, factory tool kit (replaced a couple of missing items) and put it in the closet. I then bought all the tools (mostly second-hand) I think I might need and put them in a canvas tool bag and stuck that in the trunk. The original tool kit will go with the car when sold. If the car is ever totaled or stolen I'll have a nice, original kit to put up on ebay. People do pay for originality, even with SCs.

Kurt,

I think you are correct.

We still have (un-opened) the plastic bag that came with the car containing the tool kit, touch-up paint, spare fuses, compressor, ect...........

When we picked up the car, a factory friend gave us a spare tool kit.

Gerry
