James, I used a stainless magnaflow muffler, four 180 degree mandrel bends, and four stainless band clamps. With the brand new OBX stainless headers at $380, that's about $600 in exhaust parts and a days labor with the chop saw and welder. Not bad and it sounds awesome!
Yesterday, I put a couple hundred miles on it of fairly spirited driving on the Hill Country Rallye. This thing is awesome with a ton of power. Unfortunately, my front end is still stock and worn out. The front couldn't keep up with the newly refurbished back end and coil overs. I'm calling Clint on Monday. I guess it's about time I updated this thread.
Last fall I let a friend drive my 911. Actually, he had a brand new 2015 911S and we traded for some spirited driving in the hill country. When I got my car back, it seemed a little down on power. I checked all the normal things, but over the next couple of weeks it developed a knock. Turns out it has a spun rod bearing on #3. My friend later admitted he missed a shift. Grrr! Anyway, just before Christmas I found this low mileage 95 3.6. The PO wrecked his car and it sat in his garage for several years. It hadn't been driven much and had oil leaks from the triangle, valve covers and cam covers, so I got a pretty good deal. I figured I'd reseal this one and then transfer all the bolt ons over from the knocking engine, then rebuild it. I was pleased to find no broken head studs and the cams and chains looked new. I sold the induction (still have the distributor, valve covers, headers, and a bunch of other parts for sale soon). Yesterday, I cleaned it thoroughly and gave it a reseal. Today, I started bolting on parts and getting it ready for the swap. Got the damaged 964 3.6 out and stripped all the electrical today and installed it on the 993 3.6. It is interesting all the little differences between the two engines that are three years apart. I have to travel Wednesday through Saturday, so I'm going to try and get the tranny and clutch moved Monday. And then the carbs next Sunday. If all goes well, I might even get the engine back in Sunday! I like the red shroud better than the blue one and it goes with the rest of the paint scheme. I'm trying to get this done in time for the Hill Country meet.

I am very curious as to the "electricals"? I almost did what you are doing but with 993 parts going on to a 964 engine. I did however use the 993 plastic intake, 993 injectors, and 993 headers. The rest will be 964 except for the mild cams. I have not had it running yet, hopefully when the weather is warmer.

I'll find out later if the piston or head was damaged. |

That is correct, the 91 964.
