Question How to Change Battery in Key Head

I bought one of those Lighted Key Head blanks with a nice Porsche crest on it (Part #944-5380041-00) and the light seemed kind of dim. So I split the key head open (easy and straight forward) and I found a thin copper piece on my table after examining the battery. It looks like it should link the (+) side (top) of the battery with the metal side of the lamp as the (-) side is connected to the bottom of the lamp.

Try as I might, it won't work.

Does anyone have a clue on how to put this thing back together correctly?! No Porsche dealer anywhere close.

Tom

You can see the pics in the following link...
Lighted Key Head Conversion to LED

Grabbed a shot of it...see the copper strip standing on the edge next to and touching the end of the bulb

Thanks a lot! I got the copper strip back in the correct place first try! Not sure I want to try the LED conversion but maybe on some rainy day. I am getting a new battery however as this one is really dim.

Spend the $15 or whatever on the conversion. It makes a huge difference...

Yep, I am about to. AJ's 911 did a great job on that post. I just got a new battery and it made no difference! So now I have a spare!!

Battery lasts lots longer after the LED conversion. I used a red LED in mine.

When I picked up my car after having the new tires put on (along with a bunch of other bits and things that I can't yet do) my mechanic didn't ask or charge me but he replaced the entire top part of the key because he noticed it was faded and the bulb was gone! He also put the original in a little baggy for me, so if the time ever comes, I'll still have it! Oh, he also gave me a handful of assorted porcelain fuses incase something goes wrong on the road trip I'm doing in a week. ****ing top notch!
