Wanted to get as much out of the way before engine goes back in. Rear suspension completely rebuilt and upgraded. Brakes rebuilt. New sound pad, fuel lines, clutch cable, etc. Also rebuilt shifter and hand brake.

Looking great! Thanks for the update.

I'm sure the anticipation of seeing it on its wheels is killing you!

Yes! I'm so tired of seeing the rear end hiked up!

Yep, that is the kind of progress you can make when unfettered by wife and kids. Good looking car all around

Today was engine install day! Four post lift and hydraulic lift table made it safe and fairly uneventful. About 3 hours to get it bolted in by myself and as a first timer. Had to take off rear bumper and will have to file out clearance for tailpipes a bit before reinstall. All in all a very satisfying milestone.

Nice to see another 77’ owner. I am a new one and just took my first long trip of 500 miles. It’s a relatively low mile car that wasn’t used much so I was expected that after some stretching of the legs some things would pop. Well I developed an oil leak from a hose at a connection between.

As a relatively new owner I need some clarification as to what the hose name is. Leak is coming form the connection point and not the rubber hose itself.

It is the hose just in front of the engine oil cooler.

Can somebody identify the proper name of the hose. To fix the leak does it require replacement of the entire hose or just the seal between the connection points? Is the seal formed by a crush washer, o ring, flat faced seal. Picture with this points has the connection and hose in question circled, relative to some of known parts on the right side of the car. I appreciate any and all help

Oil cooler kit install time! Fender mounted from BAT/Setrab. Nice quality. One day start to finish.

Also, I sold an XKE project and a 356C race car. Used some of the proceeds on this!

A few updates

Been working on a few projects at the same time as parts arrive sporadically.

Installing heat/sound insulation before new carpet.

Rebuild of entire front suspension and brakes in progress.

Making my own custom decklid, underway.

Longer hardware from Belmetric arrived, so I was able to complete the decklid cover. I also purchased stainless mesh to go underneath if I decide it’s necessary. Overall, happy with it except for some minor mistakes.

Fantastic.

I've been sketching up something similar for the past couple of years, with the stainless mesh to be domed at each hole. My design just on graph paper has the holes all the same size for this reason.

Flat is cool (image in link below), and a lot less prone to damage than domes I assume.

Yes, I saw that post and like it a lot. My intention was to also shape the mesh but it is woven rather than welded so it might not work. It’s less obvious to find uniform securing points on the underside as well, so for now I’m punting on the mesh.

Frosty,

Thank you. Insulation is from Rockville Audio. Great product - wear gloves to not slice your fingers on foil. Good prices. They also have it in black, which is probably a good move under dark carpet.

Thanks Chuck, I’m just getting ready to attempt an RS carpet install and was going over your thread you’ve got some skills. How many rolls did you use for your car.

One roll covered what you see in these pics. Everything but the front floorboards. As that area is susceptible to water collection I thought I'd do something removable up there.
