Muffler tip installation
Maybe this is a dumb question, but I got a new muffler tip (911-111-245-02) to replace my old, road-rashed one on my 911SC with stock muffler. I managed to cut the old one off, but how does the new one stay on? The part has 3 dimples that contact the outside of the tail pipe. I tried tapping it on with a rubber mallet, but it's too loose to stay on like that. Are you supposed to crimp it somehow, or am I better off getting it welded?
thanks John

Drive to a muffler shop and have them weld it on if you don't have a MIG welder.
$25 or so should cover it. |

I was able to twist mine and it stayed on, maybe the tailpipe underneath was a bit deformed

I had to hammer mine on with a mallet. The dimples keep it tight. So tight I'd have to cut it off, like I did the old one.

Following up on my own inquiry, I got mine attached with a couple small rivets...

I just tapped mine on. It was a fairly tight fit. It is never going to fall off. I would have to use a drift to pop it off.

Banned but not out, yet..

How many more people will say use a mallet? Reading comprehension appears to be optional.
