M Logo Basic questions 930: Intercooler upgrade, engine insulation

I have a couple of questions:

1) If I upgrade my OEM intercooler to an Andial long neck,do I need to remove the OEM air filter box? Would the Andial fit with the air box in? I see lots of air intake modifications when these oil coolers are upgraded, but want to make sure before I buy this IC.

2) Engine compartment insulation- I removed the heating system and heat exchangers for headers. Work perfect. Still, now I have some holes in the engine bay that remain after these ducts were removed, leaving some areas for heat convection from headers/ exhaust performance muffler and K27 turbo to potentially ascend(hit air always goes up!) into the engine bay/ intercooler/ a/c interaction.

Car runs very nicely in FL summer heat(90's) weather at 190°, raises to 200-210° in traffic jams but I have a front oil cooler, so never higher than that. My car is black, and want to stay away from those orange/ red or related silicone materials. Prefer black or related.

I am thinking on "sealing" those gaps/ holes with foam, rubber or related (fire retardant of course), any suggestions and where to get these?

Thanks, Carl

Hey Carl,
You should probably re-post your questions in the 930 forum for better responses. Lots of very knowledgeable turbo nuts there.
Cheers,
Johan
