Question Ever done front Bilstein inserts into BOGE struts...?

1) The Bilstein inserts ship with this rather thick rubber sleeve/o-ring thing (bout' 5/8" in diameter, 3/16" tall) under the big nylock nut on the threaded shaft, above the big dust cover can. Does this rubber piece get discarded or used somewhere??? Not obvious to me why I have it...

2) If I replace my ball joints while I'm in the area...does the car need to be realigned...(yes I'm a newbie at this)...?

Any tips/info appreciated...!!!

Can't help you with # 1, but yes on the alignment.

Discard the rubber bushing. Alos, there is not big rubber slam stopper that fits over the strut shaft as you'll find on the Boges. Just the straight shaft held up by the the nylock nut.

I figured the rubber washer was just to hold the dust cover on the shaft for shipping purposes. I tossed mine and everything works fine.
