Broken Console on back of engine.
I find this part rather expensive, and thats even if you can find one.
During my rebuild I found the flanges broken off that attaches to the tinwork, mostly rust and stress. Anyone have any success in repairing these ? I thought of finding some small pieces of metalwork, constructing a new flange and either drilling and rivetting. Maybe even get it spot welded if i can. Any thoughts ?

Yeah i just found the one on ebay .. busted up one posted a few times . im in no hurry, and was just wondering if anyone has ever attempted a repair or just got a new one.

I successfully brazed one onto my original one. Luckily I had a spare which had the side I needed and was missing the other side.

In my experience, Porsche steel welds very nicely.
I have cut and welded the engine carrier and engine tin, no probs.

Where did your part break? I just installed a new 60-2 missing aluminum crank pulley and had to use my plasma cutter to provide sufficient room for the A/C belt part of the pulley. I reinforced the area by your #1 above by welding in a 1/8" piece of steel.

that flange with the nut on it broke right off. so i need to reenforce and weld i think .

Oh...the flimsy little pieces. Just tack weld it back on. Use a small piece of sheet metal if necessary to support it. Cut it to size and bend it into an "L" and tack it into place. Paint.
