Did any late '83 SC's get the 3.2 engine?

A friend of mine told me that my late (05/1983 build date) 911SC may have had the 1984 3.2 engine installed instead of the 3.0. He said to look for the round sump plate on the bottom of the cases as a way to identify the 3.0 engine. Mine does not have the round sump plate. I googled this but got no results...what's the verdict?

No, it didn't get a 3.2 engine. It may have the later case design, as that was introduced a little early.

My 83 SC does not have the "round sump plate" you speak of....and it is the original 3.0 not a 3.2.. so don"t go by that as a determining factor of your motor size... look at the motor type # on the engine case.. it will be stamped in the case to the right of the fan housing and facing the rear of the vehicle... mine is a US 3.0 and is type # 930/16.

Mid to late '83 production of the 3.0 liter SC 930-16 had the sump plate delete and same block as the 3.2.

Sump plate delete was to not allow peeps to drain their oil into the street? Oil had to be vacuumed out?

No. There was a drain plug, just in a different spot.

The case had to change to accommodate the Carrera oil pump pickup with the screen built in rather than being attached to the sump cover.
