Like LJ851 said, you can't "reverse offset" the standard hubs to space them out. The later 930 hubs are extended by how the hub is cast. Basically it has a longer "stem" on the back side of the hub to push it out further. Here's a picture of a standard hub (right) next to a 930 extended hub (left).

Get some Rebel hats, good high strength fasteners of the proper grip length and use Wilwood 11.75 x 1.25 rotors that have 8 x 7.00" bolt circle mounting. That's a cheap, proven solution.

This rotor fits the Rebel hat perfectly and is plenty sufficient for street use, since I believe Scott (winders) uses this rotor on his GT-L racecar Wilwood High-Performance Disc Brakes - Rotor No: 160-2898

Or if you want a more robust disc because you want to spend more money on slots or hooks, use the Wilwood GT disc or an AP Racing disc.

Wilwood High-Performance Disc Brakes - Rotor No: 160-11837

Essex - AP Racing J Hook

Don't get me wrong, I know the GT or AP disc is more than just slots and hooks on their faces. But for street use they are way overkill and just wasting money IMO

AP also has a nice hardware kit that is reasonably priced. http://www.essexparts.com/shop/brake-discs/competition-disc-hardware/disc-attachment-hardware-kit.html

In your initial post you left out a critical piece of information

You have an '84 Carrera 3.2 w/ widebody 930 fenders

w/ that combo the later '81 up 930 rotors bolt up to the stock 911 hubs just fine and the 930 front calipers bolt to the 911 struts.

you will want to use 930 rear calipers and rotors too, whether these bolt on depends on the trailing arms you have, if you have 911 arms w/ leading caliper position then the rear 930 caliper need to be modified to fit the 3" 911 leading mounts, if you have 930 trailing arms w/ trailing caliper position then the 930 calipers and rotors will bolt on w/o issue.

You will also want to use a 23.8mm boosted 930 master cylinder, these wer used on al 930 from '78up

Bill,

With all due respect I think you're forgetting that w/out using the '81-up 930 front hubs, the deep offset bell of the '81-up 930 rotor will not clear the A-arm/ball joint.

...or line up properly with the caliper even if it did.

You have spacers that move the position on the wheel, you need to move the position of the brake disc.

The '81 up hub and rotor has the spacer built in, the older flat hat floating 930 used a separate 21mm spacer that allowed them to be used on narrow body 911 by discarding the spacer in front

here is a '81 up 930 front assembly, the caliper bolts to the strut in the same place for either narrow or wide fenders, the late 930 and '78-80 930 rotor is positioned in the same place in the caliper jaws, the late 930 hub/rotor assembly positions the wheel the same 21mm further out as the '78-80 911 hub/w/ rotor and flat hat.

here is the 911 hub w/ '78-80 floating rotor and flat hat and 21mm spacer
