Power window gremlin-where to start?
My power windows are burning fuses as fast as I replace them. Window will go down and up once before fuse blows. Any thoughts on where to start with diagnosing?

Dirty motor brushes, switch sticking closed. I would first disconnect the motor and activate the switch to see if you blow the fuse. Then put an ammeter inline with the power wire to the motor and see what the amperage is. My guess is it should be below 75% of the rated load of the fuse. Is it just one side that is having problems? If it was the passenger side that was popping the fuse, check and make sure that the drivers control switch for the passenger window isn’t cross commanding your passenger switch.
Check it out and give us some more data. |

Check for corrosion at the wires connected to the fuse holder. A poor connection will cause heat and higher current draw = fuse blows.

And finally, check for shorts around the big bunch of wires going into the switch - if not routed correctly they can get pulled by the window on the up and down, and eventually wear through (well something similar happened to mine).

Does the window go slow when it *is* working? If so, lube the window tracks with silicone spray. You'll need to pull the door panel off to lube them inside.

Tried most suggestions with no luck. Turns out the switches were miswired. Must have been done by PO. I have had the door panel off twice to replace door stay and outside handle trigger but color coded the connections both times. I have no idea how they even worked the way they were wired. Bentleys has the wiring chart, but you need to be careful to figure out some of the wire color descriptions. The passenger window was slow so I lubed it.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
